SARGA.CO – A heart-pounding showdown unfolded at the IHR National Horse Racing Championship Pordasi Series II 2025, held at the Sultan Agung Racecourse, Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
In a Class A Super Sprint (1,300 meters) race for the title of Best Sprinter of 2025, seven elite horses battled for the Arsari Tambang Cup, carrying a total purse of Rp70 million. The competition was so close that the judges had to review the photo finish before declaring the winner.
The tension was palpable even before the start, as stewards worked to load the restless horses into the starting gates.
Representing five regions—West Java, Jakarta, West Sumatra, East Java, and South Kalimantan—each horse came ready to prove its worth.
The lineup for this premier class featured: Princess Gavi (King Halim Stable), Dewa United (Dewa United Stable), Lea Chintya (Bintang Chintya Stable), Dominator a.k.a. King Talago (Ciello Stable), King Nagura (Nagura Stable), Satria Ardiaa (Ardiaa Stable), P Arbox Nagari (BHM Stable).
The Super Sprint Class A—one of the championship’s most prestigious races—delivered drama from the opening gate to the final stride.
From the start, Dominator, breaking cleanly from Gate 2, surged ahead under jockey Esra Tamuni, leaving the rest in his wake. Meanwhile, Princess Gavi, drawn in Gate 1, suffered a rough start after a slight bump with Dominator, pushing her to the very back of the pack.
Trailing from behind, the four-year-old mare, standing 158 cm tall and ridden by Hanny Suoth, remained calm and tactical. She conserved energy while the leaders—Dominator, Satria Ardiaa, and Dewa United—battled fiercely up front.
For most of the race, Dominator seemed unstoppable. Neither Lea Chintya nor Dewa United could muster enough pace to challenge him. But everything changed as the horses entered the final stretch.
However, the situation began to change with 300 meters to go. On the final bend, Princess Gavi began to demonstrate her status as a strong finisher.
Moving from the outside of the track, Kusnadi Halim's horse began to find her best form and accelerated. On the straight, Princess Gavi, riding like a flying horse, managed to overtake second and third place to compete with Dominator.
Near the end of the race, the duel between Princess Gavi and Dominator in the 2020 IHR Pordasi National Horse Racing Championship Series 2 finally came to a head. Dominator, on the inside of the track, refused to let Princess Gavi take the lead she had held since the start of the race.
The climax came at the finish line.
The duel between Princess Gavi and Dominator lasted until the finish line, separated by only a horse's snout. For several minutes after the race, spectators and fans waited for the jury's decision. Ultimately, the jury declared Princess Gavi the Class A Super Sprinter - 1,300 Meter champion and the 2025 sprint king of the event.
