SARGA.CO—The Class A Super Sprint – 1,300 meters was the main highlight of Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR): Kejuaraan Nasional Pacuan Kuda PORDASI ke-59 Seri II 2025 (PORDASI 59th National Horse Racing Championship Series II 2025).
In this prestigious class, a fierce duel towards the finish line unfolded between Dominator and Princess Gavi. In that tense battle, Princess Gavi ultimately emerged as the winner, edging out Dominator.
Finishing second in the 3-Year-Old Derby Class - 2,000 meters at the IHR: Indonesia Derby 2025 was clearly not the end for Princess Gavi. Three months after that victory, Princess Gavi returned to demonstrate her dominance on the racetrack by competing in the Class A Super Sprint - 1,300 meters.
It should be noted that the Class A Super Sprint is one of the prestigious classes contested in the National Championship Series II within the PP. PORDASI National Racing Calendar. Every horse that wins this class will have its name immortalized as one of the best horses in PORDASI's records.
Princess Gavi's potential was visible since her debut at the JATENG Derby 2024, when she finished fifth in the 2 Year Old Maiden Class A/B – 800 meters. Since then, this offspring of Agrippa and Queen Jasmine has consistently shown stability, always placing in the top three across various categories, from the Juvenile Class to the 3 Year Old Derby Class.
Now, she reaffirms her status as one of the fastest horses in the Super Sprint Class.
As one of the horses to watch in the Class A Super Sprint, Princess Gavi faced a number of tough rivals already known as 'short-distance specialists'.
Several names like Dominator dh. King Talago posed the greatest challenge for Princess Gavi to conquer this prestigious class.
Starting from gate one, Princess Gavi remained calm while her competitors jostled for the leading position. Dominator immediately shot into the lead, followed by Satria Ardiaa and several other horses. Meanwhile, Princess Gavi opted to stay in the back position under the control of jockey Hanny Suoth.
Dominator led steadily and managed to pull quite far ahead of its opponents for a while. However, upon entering the final turn, Princess Gavi began to execute a sharp maneuver, overtaking her rivals one by one.
The final moments toward the finish line became the deciding factor for who would emerge as champion. Dominator, who had been leading since the start under the control of Esra Tesa, ultimately had to acknowledge the cleverness of Hanny Suoth's strategy and Princess Gavi's resilience.
The victory was determined by a photo finish, with Princess Gavi's nose and feet crossing the finish line ahead of Dominator.
The Steward Board’s decision then reinforced the result, officially naming Princess Gavi as the winner of the Class A Super Sprint by an extremely narrow margin. With this narrow but significant victory, Princess Gavi further solidifies her name among the elite horses of the nation and affirms her dominance in prestigious events on the national racing calendar.
Hanny Max Suoth, the jockey entrusted with controlling Princess Gavi, admits that his flagship horse has great potential in various classes.
“Princess Gavi is truly extraordinary,” he proudly stated.
He also added that the preparation leading up to this race did not require special treatment, as Princess Gavi was already in peak condition and ready to compete.
Regarding the incident where Princess Gavi briefly hit the starting gate just before the race began, Hanny mentioned it as a common problem often faced by jockeys. However, he confirmed that the disruption did not significantly affect the course of the race.
“If you’re a sprinter, every jockey wants to run straight to the front,” Hanny revealed.
“Fortunately, Princess Gavi wasn't too late in her start,” he added.
Facing the situation at the starting gate, Hanny admitted receiving advice from the trainer to remain calm and not rush.
“We shouldn't panic; the important thing is first to study the opponents,” said the jockey who has been racing since 1991.
He also acknowledged that Dominator was Princess Gavi's toughest rival in the Class A Super Sprint. Therefore, the jockey's strategy was key to managing the horse's rhythm on the track, especially nearing the finish line.
“Actually, Princess Gavi and Dominator were equal when they entered the finish—it was down to the nose. But Princess Gavi won by a leg,” Hanny explained.
“Princess Gavi, when pushed, knows when to go for the finish. That’s why she lowered her head. They entered together, but Princess Gavi's leg crossed first,” he continued.
“But Dominator is still a great horse,” he concluded.
Hanny also added that if Princess Gavi had secured a front-row starting position, the result might have been even more remarkable.
“It's not that I underestimate Dominator; I know Princess Gavi's condition very well,” Hanny said with a slight smile.
“I take care of her, so I know the horse perfectly,” he elaborated.
Princess Gavi is known as a racehorse with impressive capability, and she proved it again through her performance in various racing classes.
Her victory in the Super Sprint Class is certainly a source of pride, not only for jockey Hanny but also for the entire King Halim Stable team.
“Princess Gavi is a special horse,” Hanny remarked.
“I have participated in the National Championship many times with many horses, but this is the first time I've found a horse like Princess Gavi. She’s easy to control. So, I don't have to waste my energy,” he finished.
With this high-caliber victory, Princess Gavi further strengthens her reputation as a racehorse of the future. Her performance at the IHR: Kejuaraan Nasional Pacuan Kuda PORDASI Ke-59 Seri II 2025 is proof that the combination of strategy, toughness, and solid teamwork remains the main key to conquering Indonesia's racetracks.
