SARGA.CO – The popularity of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby has shown no signs of slowing down since its global release. Just one month after being introduced to gamers worldwide, the game—whose characters are inspired by real-life Japanese racehorses—has already generated hundreds of billions of rupiah in revenue.
Although Cygames, the game’s developer, has not released an official earnings report, the estimated monthly revenue figure comes from gacha ranking data provided by Gacha Revenue.
Like a racehorse charging down the track, Uma Musume: Pretty Derby quickly secured its place among the highest-grossing mobile games. Citing a report from Gosugamers.net, Gacha Revenue estimated the horse-themed gacha game earned around US$22 million—about Rp357 billion—from iOS and Android sales in just one month.
The revenue estimate is based on data from Sensor Tower, a platform providing mobile app analytics tools widely used by developers, marketers, and entrepreneurs to track their app performance in the global market.
This milestone marks the game’s second major success story after dominating the domestic Japanese market since its original launch in 2021.
Beyond sales figures, Uma Musume: Pretty Derby is also enjoying rapid growth in its player base thanks to its global release, now available on Steam, iOS, and Android.
According to Pocket Gamers, players in the United States have emerged as one of the game’s strongest supporter bases. U.S. sales accounted for 65% of all overseas revenue during the first 18 days of its global release, climbing to 68% by the end of the first month.
The launch of the global version hasn’t just benefited Cygames—it has also sparked renewed interest in real-life horse racing.
Some fans of the game have begun visiting horse farms, donating feed for horses, and even investing in racehorses of their own.
As Uma Musume’s player base grows, the number of real-world racehorse fans is also showing a significant increase.
Fans are now learning about famous racehorses such as Haru Urara and Symboli Rudolf, digging into racing history, and even researching the pedigrees of real-life champions.
In Indonesia, the trend is beginning to take root. At Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Indonesia Derby 2025, held at the Sultan Agung Horse Racing Field in Bantul, Yogyakarta, fans of the game turned up to cheer for their favorite horses.
They also joined in the excitement of the Triple Crown Indonesia championship race by sharing posts and highlights on social media.
Market value expected to reach US$1.73 billion by 2035
