SARGA.CO — Rain didn’t stop the “Trainers” and cosplayers from sprinting down the track. Amid cheers from the crowd and a burst of colorful wigs and costumes, Cosplay Race Jakarta-Sho became a unique fusion of anime culture and the world of horse racing.
Held at GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro, Kuningan, South Jakarta, the event was not just an ordinary cosplay competition — it symbolized how SARGA.CO helped turn the dream of the Uma Musume Indonesia community into reality.
Event organizer Aldo Putra explained that the Cosplay Race concept was inspired by the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby game and anime series, which tells the story of horse-girl characters competing on racetracks.
“The event blends the anime world with the real one. Especially now that horse racing is starting to be enjoyed by more people — it’s great to see the community and industry come together in one place,” Aldo said.
The enthusiasm was incredible: 364 visitors filled the venue, with tickets priced at Rp15,000, while 50 cosplayers joined the race by paying an entry fee of Rp25,000.
Even as rain poured down, participants’ spirits never wavered.
“They’re becoming more curious about horse racing and Indonesia’s top racehorses. This could be a big moment for the sport,” Aldo added.
As a cosplay-themed running event, the biggest challenge came from the costumes themselves. Long wigs, skirts, and horse-themed accessories made it difficult to run freely — and some even tripped mid-track — but that only added to the charm and laughter.
The atmosphere came alive as spectators cheered for contestants in each race class: Stallion Class (male) and Mare Class (female).
Two winners from each category earned the chance to represent Jakarta in the Cosplay Race Final, which will be held in Yogyakarta on November 9, 2025. In addition to the final tickets, the champions also took home exclusive sports shoes.
Cosplay Race Jakarta-Sho proved that the local “wibu” (anime fan) community can play a role in popularizing horse racing in Indonesia. Thanks to the full support of SARGA.CO, the dream of the Uma Musume fandom to host a race-themed event, finally came true.
“We didn’t want to be left behind by communities in Malaysia or Thailand that have already held similar events. Now, through SARGA.CO, we can show that Indonesia has a strong and passionate fandom too,” said Aldo.
As the event came to a close, just like in the Uma Musume game, the cosplayers performed on stage — singing and dancing in character — wrapping up the day with applause, joy, and laughter.
