SARGA.CO – In the world of Indonesian horse racing, the name Djohar Manik is more than a champion—it’s a legend. The last horse to secure the coveted Indonesia Triple Crown title in 2014, Djohar Manik’s legacy still resonates powerfully in the hearts of equestrian sports lovers across the nation.
Djohar Manik symbolized resilience, speed, and razor-sharp racing instincts. When news of her death broke in 2024, a wave of grief swept across racetracks throughout the country.
Her final chapter began while she was pregnant by a stallion named Leonardo. At six months into the pregnancy, Djohar Manik was struck by laminitis—a painful and often fatal condition that affects a horse’s hooves. Despite treatment, her condition deteriorated, and she eventually took her last breath.
For H. Munawir, the owner of Djohar Manik and founder of Tombo Ati Stable in Surakarta, the loss was deeply personal.
said Munawir with quiet conviction.
That champion bloodline hasn’t faded. H. Munawir is now placing his hopes on a promising two-year-old colt named Alkanis.
Alkanis is the offspring of Djohar Manik’s full-blooded sister. Currently undergoing intensive training at Tombo Ati Stable, Alkanis is being carefully groomed for his anticipated debut in the 2026 Novice Class.
Munawir added with hope.
