SARGA.CO – The Equestrian Field at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, once again echoed with the thunder of hooves and cheers from the crowd on November 22–23, 2025. A total of 55 riders and 41 horses from 16 stables across Yogyakarta Special Region and Central Java competed in the UGM Horse Show 2025, an event that continues to solidify its reputation as one of the region’s most prestigious equestrian competitions.
This year marks the third edition since the event was first introduced, and also a significant milestone in the collaboration between UGM’s Equestrian Student Activity Unit (UKM Berkuda UGM) and Pordasi DIY. This partnership has made the competition more professional and expanded its impact on advancing equestrian sports in the region.
UGM Horse Show 2025 featured 101 classes divided between two core disciplines:
• Dressage, which emphasizes elegance, precision, and the horse’s responsiveness to the rider, and
• Show jumping, which tests the agility, bravery, and quick reflexes of both horse and rider as they conquer obstacles.
Three age categories—Under 14, Under 16, and Open Class—created an inclusive space for all skill levels. From young debut athletes to seasoned riders sharpening their techniques, everyone had a stage to perform.
For many participants, the UGM Horse Show is more than a competition. It is a place to learn, grow, and deepen their bond with their horses.
UKM Berkuda UGM hosts this event with a major goal: opening wider access to equestrian sports. Amid the perception that horse riding is an exclusive activity, this event proves that anyone—including students and university members—can enter and thrive in the equestrian world.
Young athletes who took to the arena carried that same spirit. They used the competition as a platform to build confidence, improve technical skills, strengthen communication with their horses, and cultivate sportsmanship.
The bond between rider and horse was evident in every jump, every subtle cue, and every graceful dressage movement—each one reflecting long hours of training and trust built day by day.
With Indonesia’s equestrian community steadily growing, the UGM Horse Show stands out as a consistent platform for development. With increasing participants and stronger organizational support, the competition demonstrates that Yogyakarta and Central Java hold tremendous potential for producing future equestrian champions.
More than just an annual event, UGM Horse Show 2025 is proof that equestrian sports can flourish through collaboration, active participation, and the enthusiastic spirit of young athletes.
