SARGA.CO – The Indonesian Polo Team is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, scheduled to take place from December 9–20, 2025.
With high spirits and full focus, the team has been training consistently at their proud home base: Nusantara Polo Club (NPC), located in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, West Java.
On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the team held a special training session called “Chukka Day”—a full-match simulation played in a 4 vs. 4 format. This wasn’t just routine practice but a key performance evaluation to gauge the team’s readiness to face tough competition at the SEA Games.
According to Indonesian Polo Team Captain Novel Alva Momongan, the two teams competing in Chukka Day will represent Indonesia at the SEA Games.
Team A consists of senior players with a combined handicap of 6, while Team B features junior athletes with a total handicap of 4.
Handicap scoring is an international standard assessed by the Federation of International Polo (FIP) in each country. The rating reflects a player’s technical ability and experience, ensuring each team is formed with precision and balance.

Novel also highlighted the vital role of the Nusantara Polo Club (NPC) as a hub for polo development in Indonesia. Since its founding in 2006, NPC has nurtured young polo talents—from recruitment and intensive training to producing international-level athletes.
“NPC has been the breeding ground for polo players from the ground up. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of President Prabowo Subianto, who has championed the growth of this sport even long before he took office,” Novel added.
With gold in their sights for the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, the Indonesian Polo Team is undergoing a rigorous training regimen.
To further enhance skillsets and competitive experience, the team is also preparing for international test matches from June to September 2025. Destinations include Singapore, various Asian countries, and Europe, providing valuable exposure to different playing styles and competitive atmospheres.
Indonesia's Polo Team has proudly raised the national flag on many occasions. A key milestone was the bronze medal at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, a testament to their potential to dominate Southeast Asia.
In the prestigious All Asia Cup (AAC) in Thailand, the Indonesian team has consistently delivered strong performances:
Their consistent podium finishes confirm their growing presence in the Asian polo scene.
Chairman of the Indonesian Equestrian Federation (PP Pordasi), Aryo Djojohadikusumo, expressed his hopes that the team would bring home gold in the upcoming SEA Games.
“With this solid training program and thorough preparation, we are optimistic that the Indonesian Polo Team can win gold at the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok. This aligns with PP Pordasi’s vision of achieving international success for our equestrian athletes,” Aryo stated.
