SARGA.CO – In an effort to elevate Indonesian equestrian sports to the international stage, the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Federation (PP PORDASI) has once again demonstrated its commitment through a series of training programs and athlete selection for Tent Pegging, ahead of the ITPF World Cup Qualifier 2026, which will take place in Jordan on January 29–31, 2026.
Initiated by the Horseback Archery & Tent Pegging Commission, the activity was held at Arena Zandor, Jakarta International Equestrian Park Pulomas, from December 10–16, 2025, and was attended by 11 equestrian athletes from various regions across Indonesia.
Over the course of seven days, participants underwent intensive Tent Pegging training under the direct guidance of Amer Munawar, a coach from Pakistan and an expert recommended by the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF). In addition to sharpening their technical skills, all participants also received official instruction and certification aligned with international standards.
On this occasion, Deri Asta, Chairman of the Horseback Archery & Tent Pegging Commission, emphasized that the program was more than just an athlete selection process.
“This activity is important for developing Tent Pegging in Indonesia, while also providing opportunities for young athletes to compete at the world level,” Deri said, as quoted from Pordasi.id on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Following an intensive evaluation process, five top athletes were selected to represent Indonesia at the upcoming world qualification event. They are:
Alan Pratama – 123 points
Kenzie Alkautsar – 121 points
Abdurrahman – 117 points
Muhammad Shalah Syahada – 117 points
1st Lt. (CAV) Yosua Nicholas Pamoto Uhum Sitorus, S.Tr.Han – 116 points
This achievement proves that Indonesian equestrian talent not only has great potential, but is also ready to be tested on a higher competitive stage.
Interestingly, the program was not limited to pure Tent Pegging athletes. Several participants came from other disciplines such as Horseback Archery and Equestrian, including representatives from the Indonesian Army’s Cavalry Corps (TNI AD). This highlights how equestrian sports in Indonesia are becoming increasingly inclusive and continue to grow.
Coach Amer Munawar gave positive remarks on the athletes’ progress, noting that they demonstrated strong talent and significant potential for further development. He also expressed optimism that, with continued training, Indonesian athletes would be able to compete at the international level.
This talent scouting initiative was not merely a selection event, but also part of a long-term development strategy for Indonesian Tent Pegging. By improving athlete experience and quality, PORDASI hopes that this adrenaline-filled and technically demanding sport will gain wider recognition and bring achievements for the nation.
