SARGA.CO – The Raja Inal Siregar Hall at the North Sumatra Provincial Government Complex witnessed history on 24 August 2025, when Aryo PS Djojohadikusumo, Chairman of the Indonesian Horse Racing and Equestrian Federation (PP PORDASI), officially inaugurated the North Sumatra Provincial Board (Pengprov) of PORDASI for the 2025–2029 term. The inauguration not only reflected the spirit of the organization but also marked a milestone in the revival of equestrian sports in the region.
Aryo described the inauguration as the “grandest” in PORDASI’s history, underscoring the strong support from local government, horse enthusiasts, and the wider community. “This reflects the extraordinary enthusiasm of the equestrian community in North Sumatra and the full commitment of the provincial, city, and regency governments,” Aryo stated in his remarks.
The event also laid a solid foundation for the future of equestrian sports in North Sumatra. Bobby Nasution, Governor of North Sumatra, who was present at the inauguration, announced a 20-hectare land grant to be developed as a training center, infrastructure hub, and equestrian sports facilities.
During the same event, Pengprov PORDASI North Sumatra signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). The agreement was signed by Yuriandi Siregar, Chairman of Pengprov PORDASI Sumut, and Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, Rector of USU, as an initial step to build an academic and research-based equestrian ecosystem.
The collaboration covers a wide range of areas: development of training curricula, horse health research, supporting agribusiness, internship programs, as well as joint seminars and equestrian events.
“We aim to make equestrian sports more than just a hobby—it should be part of education, the economy, and the future,” Yuriandi explained.
As part of the event, Pengprov PORDASI North Sumatra presented special awards to equestrian athletes from the province who have brought honor at both national and international championships. A similar award was given to Cory S. Sebayang, Chairman of Pengprov PORDASI Sumut for the 2020–2024 period, in recognition of his dedication to maintaining unity and passion within the local equestrian community.
“With the presence of the PP PORDASI Chairman and the Governor, we are more confident than ever in building North Sumatra into a new powerhouse of Indonesian equestrian sports,” Yuriandi affirmed, while rallying behind a new spirit: “Resilient, Independent, and Prosperous.”
The event concluded with the inauguration of five new regional branches (Pengcab) of PORDASI: Medan City, Deli Serdang, Binjai, Serdang Bedagai, and North Tapanuli. This step marks the expansion of the organizational network, bringing equestrian sports closer to the wider community.
With cross-sector synergy and collaborative spirit, North Sumatra is now poised not only to produce outstanding equestrian athletes but also to build a sustainable, independent equestrian sports industry for the future.
