SARGA.CO - Belgium and the Netherlands witnessed the determination of two young Indonesian horse riders, Brayen Brata Coolen and Gadis Kireina Iskandar, as they hone their skills on the European championship stage. Despite the ambitions of PP Pordasi to bring Indonesian equestrian athletes to an international level, the two continue to demonstrate a promising upward trend in their performance.
Brayen achieved a proud accomplishment by securing third place in the CSI1 125 cm* event held at Riesenbeck International in Germany on May 25, 2025. Riding his trusty horse, Cillbhrid Julie, Brayen recorded a clear round with a time of 26.12 seconds, competing fiercely against 33 athletes from various countries.
Meanwhile, Kireina Iskandar, a young potential athlete from Indonesia, successfully finished in fifth place in the CSI1 120 cm* competition at Zangersheide, Belgium on May 24, 2025. Riding her horse Kerina, she demonstrated a stable performance against a total of 26 competitors from Europe and America.
The Executive Chair of PP Pordasi, H. Muhammad Chaidir Saddak, who was also present in Europe, expressed his appreciation for the athletes' progress. According to him, competing in Europe is the best way to elevate the quality and competitiveness of Indonesian riders.
“In Europe, equestrian sport is already an industry. Competitions are held regularly every weekend. This is a golden opportunity for our athletes to compete at various levels,” said H. Eddy Saddak, quoted from Pordasi.id on Monday, May 26, 2025.
This intensive program is also part of Gadis's preparation for the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, where she will compete on her own horse (own horse system). Her presence in Europe simplifies logistics and provides an opportunity to face strong opponents.
Brayen is preparing to face significant challenges, including the Asian Continental Championship (November-December 2025), the SEA Games in Bangkok (December 2025), and the Asian Games in Nagoya 2026. Her long-term goal is to qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
