SARGA.CO – Racing stars from Japan and the United States have officially stepped up to challenge Europe’s dominance at the highest level. In the latest release of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings, two exceptional young dirt runners—Forever Young and Sovereignty—earned a rating of 127, making them the top dirt horses in the world today.
Even so, the top of the leaderboard remains firmly held by Europe: Calandagan (France) – Rating 130, ranked No.1, and Ombudsman (Great Britain) – Rating 128, ranked No.2.
Forever Young’s dramatic victory in the Breeders’ Cup Classic propelled him onto the world stage, signaling Japan’s rising strength on dirt. The race’s runner-up, Sierra Leone, also earned a strong rating of 126, placing him seventh in the global standings.
The current rankings highlight a compelling spread of global power: Europe dominates positions 1–4. Japan and the U.S. rule the dirt division. Hong Kong continues its excellence through Romantic Warrior and Ka Ying Rising.
The stage is now set for major clashes toward the end of the season, where a single G1 victory could reshape the entire top 10.
