SARGA.CO – Fine Motion, a bay mare born in Ireland on January 27, 1999, is an extraordinary tale of courage and grace in the world of horse racing. Sired by the legendary American stallion Danehill and out of the distinguished mare Cocotte, Fine Motion was brought to Japan, where she was entrusted to the skilled trainer Yuji Ito.
Under Ito’s guidance, Fine Motion blossomed into one of the finest sprinters and middle-distance runners of her generation. She competed in a golden era filled with iconic names such as Symboli Kris S, NTR, Air Shakur, Jungle Pocket, and Hishi Miracle—all fierce contenders at the peak of Japanese racing glory.
Paired with the legendary jockey Yutaka Take, Fine Motion became known for her clever Senkou/Stalker racing strategy—staying calm behind the race leaders before unleashing a powerful burst in the final stretch to seize victory.
During her illustrious career from 2001 to 2004, Fine Motion achieved eight wins and three second-place finishes in fifteen starts. Her crowning glory came with two prestigious Grade 1 victories: the Shūka Shō and, just a month later, the Queen Elizabeth II Cup in 2002. These accomplishments earned her the JRA Award for Best 3-Year-Old Filly that same year—a testament to her brilliance on the track.
However, despite her remarkable bloodline that produced numerous world-class champions, Fine Motion faced a bittersweet fate. Due to fertility issues, she was unable to produce offspring, and her lineage ended with her. Her legacy, therefore, lived not through descendants, but through the memories of those who witnessed her greatness.
