SARGA.CO – This past weekend delivered a spectacular lineup of international horse racing — from England to Australia to Japan — featuring upsets, records, and moments of pure brilliance.
Hong Kong’s sprint sensation Ka Ying Rising stunned the world with his victory in The Everest, the world’s richest turf race, boasting a prize purse of AUD 20 million (approximately IDR 215 billion), held in Australia.
Ridden by Zac Purton, Ka Ying Rising needed just one decisive surge around the final bend to sweep past his rivals and secure his 14th consecutive win.
“He didn’t even show his best form today, but it was still enough to win,” said Purton.
Ka Ying Rising now sets his sights on defending his title in the Longines Hong Kong Sprint this December and is expected to return to Sydney for The Everest 2026.
At Ascot, England, Calandagan solidified his status as a rising superstar with a commanding victory in the British Champion Stakes, marking his third consecutive Group 1 triumph.
But the day wasn’t short on surprises.
Powerful Glory, a horse sent off at 200-1 odds, shocked everyone by winning the Sprint Stakes.
In the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Cicero’s Gift prevailed at 100-1 odds, leaving the favorites far behind in fifth place.
Meanwhile, Trawlerman and Kalpana, two leading contenders, lived up to expectations with solid wins in the Long-Distance Cup and Fillies & Mares Stakes, respectively.
In Japan, Embroidery silenced doubts about her stamina with a hard-fought victory in the Shuka Sho (Grade 1) — the final leg of the Japanese Fillies Triple Crown.
After winning the Oka Sho (1000 Guineas) but falling short in the Yushun Himba (Oaks), Embroidery displayed remarkable grit, unleashing a late surge 200 meters from the finish to win narrowly.
“She stayed calm, patient, and exploded at just the right moment,” praised jockey Christophe Lemaire.
From stunning upsets to historic triumphs, this weekend once again proved that the world of horse racing is full of drama, glory, and unpredictability.
Next stop: all eyes turn to Del Mar, where the Breeders’ Cup early entries will be announced later this week.
