SARGA.CO—The prestigious SARGA CSI1*-W FEI JUMPING WORLD CUP SEA LEAGUE 2024 concluded on Sunday (15/12) at Arthayasa Stables, Limo, Depok. The show jumping competition, held over three days starting Friday (13/12), featured hundreds of riders competing across various classes.
From the Show Jumping 60 cm Open, as the lowest class, to the SARGA CSI1*-W 140 cm, as the highest class, the event offered a total prize pool of IDR 108,800,000. This made the competition more than just a contest—it became a celebration of the riders' dedication.
At the event's climax, Arserl Rizki Brayudha from Aragon Equestrian Sport emerged victorious in the highest class, Sarga CSI 1*-W 140 cm, riding his horse, Chico's Lady 3. He successfully outperformed seven other riders: Andry Prasetyono, Erwin M. Yoga, Ferry Wahyu Hadiyanto, Jendry Palandeng, Muhammad Fahmi Satria Widjaya, Yanyan Hadiansah, and Dirga Wira Ramadan Sahputra.
Arserl admitted the arena's obstacles were challenging and that he felt nervous but managed to deliver an excellent performance, ultimately clinching the gold medal.
“I felt nervous, especially being the first to compete. I had to give my best, and Alhamdulillah, I succeeded,” he said. Arserl expressed his aspirations to participate in the SEA Games, ASEAN Games, and eventually, the Olympics.
The competition was overseen by experienced local and international equestrian judges, including: FEI Foreign Judge for CSI 1*-W: Yeh Yi-Cheng (TPE), President of The Ground Jury: Yap Mou Soon (MAS), Member of The Ground Jury: M.M Abdul Wahab Mohamed dan Ground Jury Member: Tiara Ulfa Zen (INA).
In an interview with Sarga.co, Yeh Yi-Cheng, the FEI Foreign Judge, praised the riders' remarkable skills on the field. He highlighted the importance of proper guidance for young riders to grow and expressed hope for their participation in international Olympic championships in the future.
The arena and obstacles were meticulously prepared by course designer Rafiq H. Radinal and his assistant, Yudi Iriyanto.
Rafiq explained that the placement of obstacles adhered to FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale) standards to minimize risks and ensure precise jumps.
“The horse's strides before a jump are 3.7 to 4.2 steps. Riders adjust the stride length, so I measure the distance between obstacles accordingly,” he said. He further emphasized that measurement errors could result in horses falling or hitting the poles, posing dangers to both horse and rider.
Before entering the show jumping arena, riders and horses underwent a warm-up session supervised by the stewards, led by Chief Steward Jupri Mardi and assistants Paulus Satrio Prasetyo and Bayu Sondakh. The stewards ensured the horses were prepared and coordinated the entry and exit to the competition area.
Sarga.co collaborated with Arthayasa Stables to organize this event. Aseanto, the President Director of Sarga.co, expressed his appreciation for all parties involved.
“While we often focus on horse racing, we also support and sponsor other equestrian events, especially in show jumping. This event is expected to serve as a benchmark for other horse communities to grow,” he stated.
Officials from the Persatuan Olahraga Berkuda Seluruh Indonesia (PP PORDASI) also attended to support the event. Larasati, the National Chairwoman of PORDASI, highlighted the rapid development of equestrian sports in Indonesia and the need for moral support.
“We attend every event to provide moral support, not just for the athletes but also for the organizers,” she said.
The Sarga CSI 1*-W FEI Jumping World Cup Sea League not only showcased a world-class equestrian competition but also fostered positive collaboration between athletes, judges, organizers, and the community.
With a spirit of sportsmanship and dedication, the event is hoped to inspire and advance equestrian sports in Southeast Asia and beyond.
