SARGA.CO—A graceful yet powerful racehorse that rarely falters in conquering long-distance tracks. Among horse racing enthusiasts, she is nicknamed the "Queen of Long Distances."
Queen Thalassa is a racehorse raised under the care of King Halim Stable, a prestigious stable located in West Java that manages some of the finest racehorses.
According to the Indonesian Stud Book, Queen Thalassa is a fourth-generation horse born in Indonesia, descending from the legendary American Thoroughbred, Secretariat, who won the Triple Crown in the Kentucky Derby, Gallant Fox, and Count Fleet in the 1970s.
Her superior traits were passed down through her grandsires, Dynamor and Long War, to her parents, Dynamor Kid and Poseidina, showcasing how strong genetics play a vital role in bringing extraordinary potential to the next generation.
A study by Ekiz & Kocak (2007) titled "Estimates of Genetic Parameters for Racing Times of Thoroughbred" highlighted that Thoroughbreds typically begin competing at the age of two. Likewise, Queen Thalassa started her career at two years old, competing in an 800-meter race.
Further, Hintz's 1980 journal article "Genetics of Performance in the Horse" states that American Thoroughbreds generally reach peak competitive performance at four years of age. However, Queen Thalassa defied this theory, continuing to win championships even at 10 years old, securing victories over the past three years.
Although details about her specific training programs remain sparse, her consistent success underscores the expertise of King Halim Stable.
In an interview with Sarga.co, Andik, Queen Thalassa’s groom, shared his experiences of caring for her over eight years. Their daily routines involve bonding walks, fostering a strong and close relationship.
“She’s a very good and obedient horse,” Andik remarked. “She’s not aggressive, but she doesn’t like being treated harshly.” This mutual understanding between jockey and horse creates the harmony that has led to Queen Thalassa’s remarkable achievements.
Renowned for her endurance and speed, Queen Thalassa has left an indelible mark on horse racing, especially in long-distance events.
She claimed victory in the 2.000-meter Piala Tiga Mahkota Seri I dan Pertiwi Cup 2024 Kelas Terbuka and at the 2024 Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) in the 2.200-meter Kelas A. The same year, she triumphed in the 2024 Kejuaraan Jateng Derby, Kelas A (2,000 meters).
In 2023, she also won Piala Tiga Mahkota Pordasi Seri II & Pertiwi Cup 2023 (Kelas A 2.000 meter), Kejuaraan Jateng Derby 2023 (Kelas A 1.800 meter), and Piala Raja Hamengku Buwono X Ke-13 held at Gelanggang Pacuan Kuda Sultan Agung, Bantul.
In 2022, Queen Thalassa clinched victory in a competitive Kelas Terbuka 2.200-meter race at Piala King Halim Stable. This win reaffirmed her as a top competitor in Indonesia.
Nicknamed the "Queen of Long Distances," she has also shown versatility, winning Kelas A Super Sprint 1.300 meters during Kejuaraan Nasional ke-58 Pacuan Kuda Pordasi 2024 Seri II in 2024.
Ridden by the skilled jockey Jemmy Runtu, Queen Thalassa has proven her ability to maintain speed and stamina, earning widespread recognition as the "Queen."
