SARGA.CO—King Argentin closed the 2025 Indonesian Triple Crown series with a historic milestone, becoming the third-ever horse who achieve those prestigious titles. This achievement not only showcases his speed on the track but also tells a story of champion bloodline, character, and the hard work of many parties who helped bring this new legend to the racetrack.
Born on August 25, 2021, in Pasuruan, East Java, King Argentin is a male KP6 who has become a major highlight on Indonesia's racing circuit. With his distinctive deep brown coat, he captures attention every time he enters the track.
His great potential is not just talk; a string of national achievements has proven his ability as one of the most respected racehorses today.
King Argentin’s strength comes from an elite bloodline. His mother, Princess Missoni, passed down world-class racing blood. If you trace his lineage, King Argentin is also related by blood to Secretariat, the legendary American racehorse and winner of the American Triple Crown in 1973.
In his career, Secretariat won 16 of his 21 races, earning over $1.3 million in prize money, and his record times in the three Triple Crown races have yet to be broken.
King Argentin also carries champion blood that connects him to TM Opera O, one of Japan's legendary racehorses. His ancestry includes the influential lines of Blushing Groom and Nasrullah, two major names who left a strong mark on the international racing world.
His father, Agrippa, is the grandson of Blushing Groom. Interestingly, Blushing Groom is also the grandfather of TM Opera O through his mother's line, Once Wed.
With this connection, King Argentin can be called a "distant cousin" of TM Opera O, sharing the same bloodline from one of the most influential thoroughbred families in the world.
Physically, King Argentin has a balanced posture with a sturdy neck. His head is proportional, and his muscles are clearly defined when he runs. On the track, he has a powerful running style and is skilled at adjusting his position to the jockey’s strategy throughout the race.
Outside of racing, King Argentin is known as a calm horse, although he can be quite aggressive when interacting with new people. His habits often leave a lasting impression on those around him.
Winning the Triple Crown is not an easy thing in Indonesian horse racing. It requires consistency, stamina, strategy, and a steely resolve to conquer three races of different distances in one season.
This is why only the best horses can maintain their performance from start to finish, fighting against the pressure of competitors and the expectations of the crowd.
This season, King Argentin proved he deserves this prestigious status. His journey began at the IHR: Triple Crown Serie 1, a 1,200-meter race marked by dramatic action.
After a slight slip at the start, King Argentin recovered and took the lead in the last 200 meters. In the IHR: Triple Crown Serie 2, a 1,600-meter race, King Argentin showed his maturity by precisely controlling his pace before overtaking his opponents on the final turn.
The climax happened at the IHR: Indonesia Derby 2025, a 2,000-meter race held on July 27, 2025. King Argentin was spectacular; even though he was in fifth place at one point, with a clever strategy from jockey Jemmy Runtu, he dominated the track in the last 400 meters to the finish line, leaving his opponents with no room to catch up after the final turn.
Behind King Argentin’s fast pace are the skilled hands that shaped him. Jockey Jemmy Runtu is adept at reading the race's rhythm and knowing when to make his move.
Trainer Farooq Ali Khan brought discipline and international-standard training methods. Meanwhile, Danang Riyanto, the groomer, faithfully cares for and supports every step the champion takes to achieve his title.
All the training, diet, and daily care are carefully planned so that King Argentin is always ready to perform at his best in every race.
For Jemmy Runtu, controlling King Argentin on the track is an invaluable honor. It is rare for a horse to win the Triple Crown, and he is proud to be part of that history alongside one of the best horses in the country.
The great goal of the King Halim Stable to win the Triple Crown was set from the beginning. Therefore, the victory at the IHR: Indonesia Derby 2025 was the perfect answer to the expectations that had been built.
When the starting flag was waved, Jemmy's focus was on one thing: how to manage King Argentin's energy to keep him at his maximum until he crossed the finish line.
He knows the horse's unique character well. According to him, King Argentin is not just fast; he also has a natural desire to run, something he rarely finds in other horses.
"He is a bit stronger. He has the heart that wants to run. It's hard to find a horse like that," he said.
Jemmy is also impressed by King Argentin’s flexibility during a race.
"He can come from behind, he can lead from the front. He can also be a stayer," he added, describing the horse's ability to adapt his strategy to any situation on the track.
The first time Farooq met King Argentin, he immediately knew that the horse, descended from sire Agrippa and mare Princess Missoni, was special. His body was sturdy, his movements were powerful, and his eyes radiated a winner's determination.
When King Halim called Farooq to be this young horse's trainer, he didn't hesitate to accept. Farooq started training King Argentin from scratch, building his stamina and technique and developing the horse's mental toughness on the track.
The win at the IHR: Triple Crown Serie 1 came without excessive expectations. It was from there that Farooq's optimism for King Argentin began to grow. He knew that the 1,600-meter distance was perfect for the black stallion.
"The horse is very good, this time he will win," he said when he recalled his optimism to the stable owner, Kusnadi Halim, before the IHR: Triple Crown Serie 2 began.
His belief was proven right. King Argentin won the second race in the Triple Crown series. According to Farooq, his performance continued to improve throughout the series.
However, the journey was not smooth. Farooq still remembers the challenging moment in Serie 1 when King Argentin drifted and fell far behind Wonder Land.
Jemmy Runtu, and the horse's quick response, the pair to turn the situation around and secure the win. After that, Farooq's trust in King Argentin only grew stronger.
The peak of emotion came in the IHR: Indonesia Derby 2025. On the final turn, Jemmy Runtu calmly controlled King Argentin, even though he was quite far behind Sidney All Star.
"When Jemmy Runtu moves, King Argentin gives a good response," said Farooq, emphasizing the strong chemistry between the jockey and the horse.
This bond was proven again on the last turn, exactly 400 meters before the finish line, when they locked in the victory and became the Triple Crown titleholders.
For him, that moment proved that King Argentin is not just a strong horse, but also has a big heart.
Facing rivals like Romantic Spartan and Sidney All Star, Farooq admits each horse has its strengths. But based on the previous races, he remained confident.
That belief came from the direct experience of training King Argentin and personally witnessing the determination of the horse on the track.
"He's not only a strong horse, he also has a strong heart," Farooq said, ending his story with a proud smile.
Since July 2024, Danang Riyanto has been officially the person behind King Argentin's care. However, his initial story wasn’t as smooth as a racetrack.
"At first, I didn't want to be King Argentin's groom," he revealed.
For Danang, King Argentin was too special. This made him afraid he wouldn't be able to care for the horse properly.
From his posture and body length alone, he could tell that King Argentin was a high-quality horse from their first meeting. In the end, he took on the responsibility.
Behind his performance in the arena, King Argentin has unique habits that Danang has known for a long time. From the beginning, he knew the champion had a fondness for biting the gaps in the stable door and was uncomfortable having his stomach touched.
Although his care wasn’t special compared to other racehorses, King Argentin still had a prominent personality.
Before a race, King Argentin often appears nervous before entering the gate. But other than that, he is generally calm, though he can be aggressive when he meets new people. Danang even remembers an unforgettable moment when King Argentin was about to race.
"Suddenly, he ran on his own, like a rodeo. The saddle was crooked," he explained with a small laugh.
Caring for King Argentin every day has developed an invaluable emotional bond for him.
"Caring for him every day, I feel for him, the horse is always running, every morning and afternoon," he said.
Before the Derby race, Danang's hope for the horse he had cared for for a full year was simple but meaningful.
"Stay healthy until the final," Danang expressed.
Danang's hope came true. King Argentin performed at his best, securing the first-place podium and completing his title as the Triple Crown winner.
"Thank you for making us all happy and proud," he said.
He believes that King Argentin's abilities will continue to develop, even surpassing the achievements he has already made at the IHR: Indonesia Derby 2025.
King Argentin has not only immortalized his name as a legend. He is a symbol of hard work, teamwork, and unwavering determination.
From every step on the track to his small habits in the stable, everything is part of the story that led him to win the Triple Crown. An achievement that confirms a new legend of Indonesian horse racing has been born, and King Argentin's journey has only just begun.
