SARGA.CO – Who would’ve thought that the rapid thundering of hooves, roaring crowds, and fierce competitive spirit at a horse racing arena could blend seamlessly with colorful wigs, elaborate costumes, and characters from Japanese anime?
For the first time since Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) series began, SARGA.Co presented something truly unexpected: Race Cos Yogyakarta-Kinen 2025, an event where cosplayers from the Uma Musume Indonesia community literally ran on the horse racing track.
This initiative became the spectacular closing act of the IHR Piala Raja Hamengku Buwono X 2025, an event long known for its 18 professional racing classes. But this time, two additional classes—Race XIX and XX—broke the boundaries between pop culture and traditional sport.
“This collaboration is a blend of historical and modern culture,” said Kevin Jonathan, VP of Marketing & Operations at SARGA.Co.
According to him, this initiative is expected to spark new interest in the world of horse racing among younger generations.
“Not only from Uma Musume game players, but also from young people in general,” he added.
The result? Laughter, nonstop camera flashes, and a competitive spirit that remained strong all the way to the finish line.
In this class, 12 participants from Jakarta, Sleman, South Tangerang, Sukoharjo, and Bantul went all-out portraying iconic characters from the anime Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.
Three participants chose to appear as Agnes Tachyon, while others came as Oguri Cap, Gold Ship, T.M Opera O, Eishin Flash, K.S. Miracle, Mihono Bourbon, Fenomeno, and Fuji Kiseki.
The results were as thrilling as an actual horse race:
1st Place: Disa (Jakarta) – Agnes Tachyon
(Title: Jakarta Sho Champion)
2nd Place: Aries (Bantul) – Fuji Kiseki
3rd Place: Adelmo (Sukoharjo) – Oguri Cap
Equally exciting, the Mare Class featured 12 female participants from various cities—Jakarta, Semarang, Solo, Sragen, Sleman, all the way to Bandung.
One standout participant was Meltedfoxx, who cosplayed King Argentin, the legendary Indonesian Triple Crown winner of 2025. Meanwhile, Natsumi Toyoma, the Jakarta Sho Champion, looked stunning at Narita Top Road.
The final results were:
1st Place: Awalita Aikawa (Sragen) – Oguri Cap
2nd Place: Mami (Salatiga) – Daiwa Scarlet
3rd Place: XrieshaX (Bandung) – Fenomeno
Though the distance was only 100 meters, the moment marked a major milestone in uniting two seemingly different worlds: traditional horse racing and Japanese pop culture. Participants ran not merely to win, but to celebrate creativity and sportsmanship in a fresh new form.
As cosplayers sprinted down the track in their vibrant costumes, they brought Uma Musume characters to life—combining speed, elegance, and competitive spirit.
Race Cos Yogyakarta-Kinen 2025 proved that traditional sports can appear exciting and relevant to younger audiences, as long as there is room for imagination. SARGA.Co successfully created a synergy between heritage and hype culture, transforming horse racing into not just a contest of speed, but a stage for cross-cultural expression.
