SARGA.CO – The Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR)-Indonesia Derby 2025 has completed five race classes at Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track, Bantul, Yogyakarta, as of Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Following six winners in earlier heats, three additional classes delivered fierce competition, including what many called the “hell class” as it pitted two archrivals head-to-head.
A thrilling race unfolded in Class E (1,200 meters) with eight horses competing. From the start, three contenders—Predator Istana (formerly RX King), Harta Eclipse, and Artemis—dominated the field.
Predator Istana, ridden by Angel Manarisip, surged into the lead via the inner track.
The 6-year-old stallion, offspring of Son of Reb and Singhasari, faced stiff resistance nearing the finish line.
Harta Eclipse, a classic stalker horse with Meikel Soleran aboard, challenged aggressively. Despite pressure from Harta Eclipse and Artemis, Predator Istana from Istana Stable proved unstoppable, clinching the Pertamina Cup and a total prize of IDR 20 million.
Winners – Class E (1,200 meters):
In Class D, initial dominance was seen from BHM Stable horses: P Musang King, P Satria BHM, and Sitaro Nagari. However, their lead began to crumble as the race progressed.
The surprise of the race came from Merkava, a filly from Djangkar Bumi Stable, Yogyakarta. Despite not being a frontrunner, Merkava—offspring of Belantara and Citra Mihanasa—emerged as a threat to Musang King and Beauty Generation.
Still, P Musang King, expertly handled by jockey Salman Farid, held firm to secure first place.
Winners – Class D (1,200 meters):
The fifth race at the IHR-Indonesia Derby 2025 featured 11 top horses from 7 regions, including Jakarta, South Kalimantan, West Sumatra, Yogyakarta, Central Java, West Java, and Central Sulawesi.
Dubbed the “hell class,” the Class A Open Sprint (1,300 meters) brought together elite contenders, including Azarya Eclipse with jockey Meikel Soleran of Eclipse Stable. Azarya had previously secured three consecutive wins.
Lea Cynthia from Jakarta led early in the race for the JHL Group Cup (IDR 40 million), but was soon pressured by Dominator, Azarya Eclipse, and Dewa United (aka Sunlight Nagari).
Despite a two-month break from competition, Dominator, with jockey Ersa Tamunu, broke free from the pack and defended his position against fierce rivals.
The final stretch saw the top three runners hold their spots with minimal changes.
Winners – Class A Open Sprint (1,300 meters):
This championship also became the first in Indonesia to host equestrian events at night.
