SARGA.CO – Beyond speed and jockey skill, the Sultan Agung racetrack in Bantul has become a key player in the drama of the 2025 Indonesia’s Horse Racing Cup (IHR Cup).
With a full track length of 2,000 meters and unique racing dynamics, Sultan Agung is often cited as one of the most demanding horse racing tracks in the Indonesian circuit.
The Sultan Agung racetrack is built to national standards, featuring an oval-shaped course that combines long straightaways with tight turns at both ends.
Track specifications include:
said Wahono AT, head trainer at Djon’s Stable.
One of the most critical points is the second bend, right before the final straight. It’s often where races are won or lost — depending on whether a horse can conserve energy for a last burst or falters under pressure.
“The sharper angle of the turn forces jockeys to take precise lines. One wrong move can cost speed or trap the horse behind rivals,”
explained Ardhi Wijaya, trainer at BHM Stable and Adem Ayem Stable.
The final straight, stretching more than 300 meters, demands not just speed but explosive stamina — the last challenge in every race.
Beyond its design, weather also plays a key role in race conditions. Heavy rain can make the surface heavier, while dry heat turns the track dusty and fast.
Sultan Agung has long been the proving ground of Indonesia’s legendary racehorses. Iconic races like the IHR Cup have witnessed surprise performances from underdogs who mastered its punishing terrain.
The 2025 IHR Cup is not merely a contest of speed — it’s a battle of strategy, endurance, and mental toughness. At Sultan Agung Stadium, only horses and jockeys with the right mix of stamina, skill, and tactical awareness will rise to the top.
This championship also became the first in Indonesia to host equestrian events at night.
