SARGA.CO – Despite back-to-back victories in the first two legs of Indonesia’s Triple Crown series, jockey Jemmy Runtu isn’t resting easy. With just one more win needed to clinch the prestigious title, Jemmy admitted to feeling the pressure as the Indonesia Derby Series 1 in Bantul, Yogyakarta, looms in July.
“I can’t deny that I’m nervous heading into this third leg of the Triple Crown,” said Jemmy—known as Kilat—as quoted by SARGA News via Sarga.Co’s YouTube channel, Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Jemmy shared that both he and the team are doing everything they can to prepare King Argentine for the championship race.
Over the next one to two months, King Halim Stable’s trainers and crew are expected to carry out an intensive regimen to ensure King Argentine is in top shape for the Derby. Ironically, Jemmy admitted that the more they prepare, the more nervous he feels.
Even so, Jemmy remains focused on consistent training and is always open to learning more. He emphasized the importance of humility in mastering the art of racing.
“Never be ashamed to learn. Knowledge in this sport is endless—we’re always growing,” said the jockey, who wore a baby blue and white checkered jersey with a red cap when he won the 1600m Class 3YO Derby Triple Crown Series II.
To sharpen his skills, Jemmy also studies training techniques and race strategies from online videos—an approach he believes all riders can benefit from.
“Whoever they are, we have to appreciate them,” Jemmy said calmly as he looked ahead to the upcoming Derby.
Meanwhile, trainer Farook Ali Khan praised Jemmy’s growth and confidence in the saddle. He expressed full faith in Jemmy’s ability to ride King Argentine again in the decisive final leg.

According to Farook, Jemmy has developed a deeper understanding of King Argentine over the last two races. This synergy gives their team a critical edge going into the final leg. Farook also mentioned plans to further increase their training intensity while analyzing the strategies of rival stables.
Despite the ramped-up training, Farook insisted on prioritizing the horse’s health. He voiced concern about competitors who continue to push their horses during illness or injury.
