SARGA.CO – The 2025 horse racing season delivered countless unforgettable moments. Some were nerve-racking, others amusing, and several marked the dawn of a new, more vibrant era for Indonesian horse racing.
Interestingly, many of these memorable moments were not solely about the racehorses themselves. From jockeys celebrating victories in unique ways to the growing presence of horse-racing communities, the sport has increasingly captured the hearts of a wider audience.
SARGA.CO recorded several standout events that proved Indonesian horse racing was an exciting spectacle throughout 2025. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the most thrilling moments of the year.
Despite it being early in the year, SARGA.CO made a bold move by introducing something never before seen at a horse racing event. Usually, jockeys showcase their skills in the saddle on the racetrack—but this time, they were put to the test on an impromptu catwalk.
This unique moment took place during the Annual Kick Off: The Race of Rising Stars event held at La Moda, Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, on February 2, 2025. Featuring an Indonesian Heritage Cowboy Style theme, the event officially marked the opening of the 2025 national horse racing calendar.
At the event, SARGA.CO invited jockeys to walk the runway wearing their official racing attire. Accompanied by professional models, the jockeys surprised many with their poise and confidence in front of the camera. Who knows—perhaps a career change into modeling might be on the horizon?
The Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) 2025 series also delivered unforgettable moments from the racehorses themselves. One of the most memorable occurred during IHR Triple Crown Series 2 at the Tegalwaton Racecourse in Semarang, Central Java, on May 18, 2025.
In Race X, Class THB LN – 1,200 meters, three horses lined up to compete for the Arsari Tambang Cup, with a total prize of IDR 15 million. Despite the small field, the race proved challenging even before it began.
Cronos Eclipse, representing Eclipse Stable, appeared nervous when being guided into gate number two. Officials first attempted to lead the three-year-old chestnut colt, ridden by Hesky Paendong, through the rear gate entrance. However, the horse refused, lowering its hind legs to the ground and leaving the jockey with little choice but to wait.
Undeterred, seven officials then tried to push the horse through the front of the gate. Once again, Cronos Eclipse resisted, creating a tense atmosphere. The colt even kicked out, forcing officials to release him from the gate as he bolted away.
After eight long minutes of effort, Cronos Eclipse finally settled into position. Remarkably, the once-nervous horse went on to deliver a winning performance, surging forward and engaging in a fierce battle before crossing the finish line first.
In 2025, the viral Pacu Jalur celebration craze swept across various sports—and horse racing was no exception. This trend appeared during the IHR Indonesia Derby 2025, held at Sultan Agung Racecourse, Yogyakarta, on July 27, 2025.
Pacu Jalur is a traditional longboat rowing competition from Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Riau. The tradition gained viral popularity thanks to the “Aura Farming” celebration performed by a young guide standing at the bow of the winning boat.
This iconic celebratory movement soon made its way onto the racetrack, with jockey Esra Tesa Tamunu and several others mimicking the gesture in their post-race celebrations.
Who could forget the bizarre antics of Prince Loupan from King Halim Stable, which left spectators both confused and amused? Despite his erratic behavior, the light-colored horse still managed to finish on the podium in one competition.
Prince Loupan’s unusual performance first occurred at the IHR Merdeka Cup 2025, held at Legok Jawa Racecourse in Pangandaran, West Java, on August 24, 2025.
Competing in Class G – 1,000 meters, the two-year-old colt (131 cm tall), sired by King Lopan and out of Sandel, started perfectly and surged into the lead with impressive speed despite his small frame.
Then, unexpectedly, just as the crowd held its breath in the final moments, Prince Loupan suddenly veered toward the center of the track and drifted outward as if he had lost his sense of direction. The audience stared in disbelief before bursting into laughter.
Amid the confusion, rival horse Naga Maja from Jalu Stable smoothly took over and won the race, claiming a prize of IDR 10 million.
Two months later, Prince Loupan returned at the 59th PORDASI National Horse Racing Championship Series II on October 19, 2025, again competing in the G – 1,000 meters class.
Spectators eagerly awaited what new surprises he might bring. Facing six other horses, Prince Loupan burst from gate number one with acrobatic flair, briefly rearing up on his hind legs.
Thanks to the skill of jockey Genta, Prince Loupan was brought back under control. Racing like a horse possessed, he chased down his rivals and ultimately finished in third place.
Since the global release of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, the game’s fan community—known as “Trainers”—has gained significant attention. This trend reached Indonesian horse racing for the first time when SARGA.CO introduced two special races at the IHR King’s Cup: Race Cos Yogyakarta-Kinen 2025.
Unlike traditional horse races, these two additional classes (Races 19 and 20) featured cosplayers—young participants from the Uma Musume Indonesia community. They sprinted 100 meters down the track, portraying legendary horses from the anime.
A total of six trainers emerged as winners across the two special races, adding a colorful and playful dimension to the IHR 2025 series.
