SARGA.CO—The sky looks clear above the track, but tension lingers in every hoofbeat. The 2025 Triple Crown Series 1 and 2 have concluded, yet the echoes remain. Amid public attention and lingering adrenaline, one name stands tallest: King Argentin.
Two decisive victories, without excessive whipping or drama — have led many trainers to ask the same question: Could he be the following legend after Djohar Manik?
In the first two Triple Crown series, King Argentin showcased both technical and emotional dominance. Not just winning, but winning convincingly, said senior trainer W. Wicaksono from Jakarta.
“The quality of a horse isn’t judged from just one aspect. There are five elements: owner, trainer, jockey, groom, and the horse itself,” he explained. He emphasized that the team behind King Argentin is no ordinary team.
Trained consistently on the coastal sand tracks of Pacitan, where unique climates and geography combine, King Argentin was forged into a true ex-dower. “He’s already synced with certain distances,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rudolf Herman Ratu of Bullion Stable stated, “A Triple Crown is rare. In Indonesia, you can count them on one hand. Now King Argentin is just one step away.” To him, King Argentin is the best horse right now, not because of hype, but because of what he’s shown on the track.
But like every great story, there’s always an antagonist that adds color. In this case, Wonder Land.
Wonder Land has put up an intense fight in the past two series. According to Wicaksono, “The Jakarta contingent is preparing Wonderland seriously for the National Derby. We’ll make the competition even more exciting.”
Though defeated twice by King Argentin, Wonder Land still has a shot, especially with rigorous preparation and a new strategy in development.
“Wonder Land leads, but Jemmy Runtu’s technique changes everything,” said Tantan Firmansyah of Aragon Stable.
“King Argentin can chase from behind, and the jockey knows exactly when to release.” To Tantan, a former jockey himself, a horse like King Argentin holds great potential, perhaps enough to match or even surpass Djohar Manik.
Djohar Manik’s name continues to echo in every conversation about King Argentin. Djohar is an icon, a track dominator who won nearly every championship. But is King Argentin on the same level?
According to Ndena Ngaba of Jatinom Indah Stable, “Still a long way. Djohar kept winning in every event. But in terms of potential, Argentin has it.” Meanwhile, senior trainer Slamet Wo is more optimistic: “He’s already there. The horse’s quality is top-tier, could even surpass Djohar.”
Ardhi Punta Wijaya, trainer of BHM and Cilleo Stable, takes a balanced yet hopeful view:
“Horse racing isn’t math. But looking at his character, rhythm, and Jemmy Runtu’s butterfly-like style, I believe he can win the Derby. And if that happens, King Argentin could become a new legend.”
One thing all trainers agree on: the Indonesia Derby is more than just a race. It’s the summit of hard work, strategy, and luck.
“Trainers now are like waiting for an egg not to crack,” Rudolf said with a chuckle.
Yose Rizal from Nikita Stable added, “If it’s about readiness, King Argentin is more than ready. The team is solid, professional, and complete. But still… luck decides.”
In the world of racing, winning isn’t just about the fastest time. It’s about maintaining rhythm, managing pressure, and listening to the horse’s breath before the gates even open.
King Argentin may just be a horse, but now he carries the dreams of his entire team, aiming for something rare: legendary status.
In the end
The Triple Crown is just one step away. King Argentin has won two. The final proof lies in the Indonesia Derby, covering 2,000 meters. If he wins, history will remember his name alongside, or even above, Djohar Manik.
And if he doesn’t, we’ve still witnessed one of the most electrifying journeys in Indonesian horse racing history.
Because in this world, many horses can win.
But only one… can become a legend.
