SARGA.CO—King Argentin is increasingly in the spotlight, not only for his impressive performance but also for his direct bloodline tracing back to the legendary racehorse, Secretariat. As a champion’s descendant, King Argentin carries not just a prestigious heritage but also towering expectations in every competition he enters.
For horse racing enthusiasts, Secretariat is more than a legend. This American Thoroughbred made history from the moment he debuted in 1970. Just three years later, he won the American Triple Crown with sensational race times.
Secretariat clocked 1 minute 59 seconds in the Kentucky Derby, 1 minute 53 seconds in the Preakness Stakes, and an incredible 2 minutes 24 seconds in the Belmont Stakes. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, no horse has beaten these times to this day. His commanding 31-length victory in the Belmont Stakes remains one of the most iconic moments in horse racing history.
Out of 21 career starts, Secretariat secured 16 wins and earned over $1.3 million. Beyond his victories, he became a symbol of power and dominance on the racetrack.
His legacy lives on, not only in the record books but also through the bloodlines of elite racehorses. One of those who carries this elite pedigree is King Argentin, whose lineage can be traced through his dam, Princess Missoni.
Don’t have to dig far into King Argentin’s pedigree to find the name Secretariat (USA, 1970). Based on Studbook Indonesia records, Secretariat's bloodline was passed down to King Argentin through Lady Winborne (USA, 1976), the offspring of Secretariat and Priceless Gem (USA, 1963).
Lady Winborne later gave birth to Long War (USA, 1994), a result of pairing with Lord At War (ARG, 1980), who brought in the blood of General (FR, 1974) and Luna De Miel (ARG, 1974).
Long War became the sire of Mahkota Putri Aria (IDN, 2006), who later gave birth to Princess Missoni (IDN, 2015). Princess Missoni was then bred with Agrippa (IDN, 2007), producing King Argentin.
With Secretariat’s blood coursing through his veins, the torch of greatness now rests in King Argentin’s hooves, ready to make his mark on Indonesia’s racetrack.
Carrying the blood of Secretariat naturally brings a weight of its own, especially for King Halim Stable, the home of King Argentin. Since his debut in 2023, public attention has steadily grown. And King Argentin has not disappointed.
He first stole the spotlight by winning Piala Tiga Mahkota Seri I and the Pertiwi Cup 2024 in the 2-Year-Old A/B - 800m category. He followed up with a strong second-place finish in Kejuaraan Nasional Pacuan Kuda Seri 01 Indonesia Derby 2024 for 2-Year-Old A/B - 1,400m, showing early signs of consistent performance at the competitive level.
Even in tougher races such as the Le Minerale Piala Ketua Umum PP Pordasi 2024-2028 (Class 3 Derby Division I – 1,600m), King Argentin held strong, finishing as runner-up.
In his second year since debuting, King Argentin has shown even more maturity. He took first place at the A.E. Kawilarang Memorial Cup 2025 (3-Year-Old Derby – 1,600m).
His winning streak continued in Triple Crown Serie 1 (1,200m) and Triple Crown Serie 2 (3-Year-Old Derby – 1,600m), racing alongside his trusted jockey, Jemmy Runtu.
During the qualifying round of Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Indonesia Derby 2025 (3-Year-Old Derby Heat I – 2,000m), King Argentin once again claimed the top position, followed by Padagi NSL in second and Romatic Spartan in third.
With this series of accomplishments, King Argentin is getting closer to history as the next potential Triple Crown winner—if he can triumph in the final round of Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Indonesia Derby 2025.
While genetics does play a role, they’re only a part of what determines victory on the track. According to Professor Emmeline Hill, as cited by Racing Post, “speed genes” are important, but the training environment and development significantly shape them.
A study by Equinome found that genetics account for roughly 40% of race performance, while the remaining 60% depends on race strategy, jockey management, and proper horse conditioning.
Beyond physical conditioning, the synergy between horse and jockey is vital. A jockey who understands the horse’s behavior and responses can execute race strategies more effectively, creating a partnership that evolves in harmony.
In short, while King Argentin may carry the blood of a champion, victory cannot rest on lineage alone. Earning the title of legend requires relentless training, strategic racing, and a strong bond between horse and jockey.
Since his debut, King Argentin has shown promise. His rise brings a wave of hope—and perhaps, the birth of a new legend in Indonesian horse racing.
Will King Argentin carry on Secretariat’s legacy or carve out a story of his own in a new era? The horse racing world is watching. For within King Argentin’s blood may lie the beginning of a new chapter in racing history, both in Indonesia and beyond. What do you guys think?
