SARGA.CO—Ahead of Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Indonesia Derby 2025, all eyes are on the most talked-about duo on the track, Jemmy Runtu and King Argentin. Both of them haven’t only delivered consistent results throughout the season but have also drawn attention from their competitors in the arena.
With a fairly long career on the track, Jemmy Runtu is known as a calm yet tactical jockey. He always knows when to hold back and when to let his horse loose.
Meanwhile, King Argentin is a racehorse with a reputation for always finishing among the front runners. Their combination creates a synergy that is hard to ignore and deserves serious consideration.
Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Indonesia Derby 2025 will determine the next potential holder of the coveted Triple Crown title in Indonesia’s horse racing scene.
Historically, only two legendary horses have earned this prestigious title: Djohar Manik and Manik Trisula.
Now, a new hope has emerged in King Argentin, who has successfully swept victories in both Triple Crown Series 1 and 2 this season. Racing enthusiasts, and even fellow jockeys, are beginning to speculate that this horse from King Halim Stable has a strong chance of claiming the next Triple Crown title.
That’s why King Argentin is in the spotlight, especially with the skilled hands of Jemmy Runtu behind his success, whose track record speaks for itself.
The duo of Jemmy Runtu and King Argentin has become the center of attention among jockeys who have competed in both Series 1 and 2 of the Triple Crown.
Most of them named this pair as the top contender, although Wonder Land is still recognized as a serious threat.
This assessment isn’t without basis. Jemmy Runtu and King Argentin’s consistency in the previous two series is undeniable, having always finished first, while Wonder Land followed closely in second place.
“King Argentin already won in Champion 1, and he proved himself again in Champion 2. Now it’s just the 2,000-meter race (the Derby), and I’m sure it’s going to be amazing,” said Agus Setiono, a jockey from Tombo Ati Stable. He noted that Jemmy’s signature riding style makes all the difference.
Similarly, Dedi Suswanto from Aragon Stable called Jemmy a role model jockey.
“Jemmy Runtu’s skill is above average,” he said.
Although he supports his own stable’s horse for the 2,000-meter Derby, Dedi openly favors King Argentin outside his stable.
“For the third series (the Derby), I think King Argentin will be the winner,” Dedi said optimistically.
A big support also came from Ahmad Saefudin of Turangga Management Stable.
“It’s already seen that in the 1,600-meter race, he ran really well, and the timing was great too. Based on lap time, King Argentin was better than the other horses,” he emphasized.
He also mentioned Wonder Land and Merlin Gray as two other horses with the potential to become serious threats. Wonder Land has great stamina, while Merlin Gray can launch a final burst from behind, disrupting other contenders with his late speed.
Meanwhile, Yovan Suhara from TJF Stable continues to back King Argentin thanks to his two brilliant wins in Series 1 and 2. He also praised Jemmy Runtu’s capabilities.
Yovan offered a special message for the jockey: Never forget the importance of mental strength. In his opinion, physical preparation alone is not enough to face the Derby. This race pits powerful horses against one another in tight competition, where the risk of contact is ever-present at every turn.
“Keep your spirits up, Om Jemmy. We, the jockeys, are rooting for you,” Yovan concluded.
The spotlight on King Argentin isn’t limited to jockeys; positive attention has also poured in from the spectators. Some openly support King Halim Stable’s horse, citing his ideal build and stable strides that surpass those of his competitors on the track.
One of them, Bambang Setiawan, a spectator from Kebumen, openly favored the duo of King Argentin and his jockey, Jemmy Runtu. He believes Jemmy’s calm demeanor and solid strategy are two essential traits for a stage as grand as the Indonesia Derby.
“This year, it’s most likely that King Argentin and Jemmy Runtu will be the winners,” Bambang said with confidence.
He also advised both the jockey and the horse to maintain their stamina and endurance to deliver peak performance in the 2,000-meter race at the 2025 Indonesia Derby.
Given their consistent victories in Triple Crown Series 1 and 2, King Argentin is realistically the strongest candidate to claim the Triple Crown title. This prediction is backed by two key factors. First, the horse’s superior physical capabilities—evident in his build and stride. The next factor is Jemmy Runtu’s experience and strategy, which fellow jockeys agree are well above average.
These two factors align with findings from Betting Research, which state that maximum speed, aerobic threshold, blood lactate levels, and hematocrit levels are strongly correlated with a racehorse’s performance. In other words, a horse in optimal physical condition has a significantly higher chance of winning.
From the jockey’s perspective, studies using EMG and accelerometers show that experienced jockeys can control body positioning more steadily, absorb vibrations, and maintain ideal posture throughout the race. This ability has been proven to enhance the horse’s overall performance and reduce the risk of falling on the track.
With all performance indicators and support from various parties lining up, Jemmy Runtu and King Argentin are not only in the spotlight, but also stand as the strongest contenders for the Triple Crown title at Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Indonesia Derby 2025.
