SARGA.CO—The Race of the Rising Stars series has officially come to an end. Looking back at the first half of 2025, numerous unexpected moments colored Indonesia’s horse-racing tracks. What were the standout highlights? Here’s the full recap.
The Race of the Rising Stars is an annual program organized by SARGA.CO, this year featured 10 championships and 5 music festivals held across several cities in Indonesia. Through this series of championships, the event aims to boost nationwide public enthusiasm for horse racing.
This event also serves as a platform for introducing a more modern race format while pushing the development of a more professional horse-racing ecosystem.
Throughout the first half of 2025, Indonesia’s race tracks welcomed many new champions. Four championships were held from February to June 2025, including JATENG Derby 2025, BNI Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Triple Crown Serie 1 & Pertiwi Cup 2025, Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Triple Crown Serie 2 2025, and Indonesia’s Horse Racing Cup 2025.
A total of 71 racehorses successfully reached the podium across various categories in these four championships, ranging from Kelas Perdana, Pemula, Remaja, and Derby to several classes based on height groups.
Meikel Soleran is one of Indonesia’s top jockeys. Opening the season at the JATENG Derby 2025, the jockey born in Pinabetengan on March 31, 1988, immediately showcased his dominance by securing six victories at once.
In the JATENG Derby 2025, he claimed four first-place podiums: Kelas 2 Tahun Perdana A/B – 1,000 meters with Nara Eclipse; Kelas 2 Tahun Pemula C/D – 1,000 meters with Kana Eclipse; Kelas 2 Tahun Pemula A/B – 1,000 meters with Shogun Eclipse; and Kelas E – 1,200 meters with Harata Eclipse.
He also earned two additional second-place podiums with Azarya Eclipse in Kelas Terbuka Sprint – 1,300 meters and with Keiko Eclipse in Kelas 2 Tahun Perdana C/D Heat II – 800 meters.
This streak of victories reaffirms Meikel Soleran’s consistency and his status as a hard-to-stop jockey. His podium sweep at JATENG Derby 2025 serves as undeniable proof of Eclipse Stable’s early-season dominance.
In Kelas C – 1,600 meters at JATENG Derby 2025, Ms Queen emerged as the most attention-grabbing racehorse. Under the command of Jones Paendong, she faced seven other contenders and immediately took the lead as soon as the starting gate opened.
Despite constant pressure from Hidden Star, who stayed close behind, MS Queen maintained her rhythm with steady strides.
Entering the final 800 meters, she increased her pace and pulled away significantly from her rivals. Her dominance continued uninterrupted until the finish line, securing her victory in the mid-distance class.
The BNI Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Triple Crown Serie 1 & Pertiwi Cup 2025 became the starting point of King Argentin’s journey toward securing the Triple Crown title in Indonesia—ending an 11-year wait.
Under the guidance of Jemmy Runtu, King Argentin started from gate 12, a challenging outer position among 11 other top horses in the 1,200-meter Kelas Triple Crown Seri 1. Rather than rushing to take the lead, he remained calm and refused to be provoked by Wonder Land, who led from the start.
Entering the first turn, King Argentin briefly lost control and drifted wide, leaving him far behind Wonder Land. But the incident became a turning point. With remarkable acceleration, he began overtaking one opponent after another. Wonder Land, who had held a long lead, continued to maintain pace until the last 400 meters, but King Argentin grew increasingly aggressive.
Approaching the final turn, despite drifting slightly once more, King Argentin harnessed all his power and won the intense duel in the final 200 meters. His explosive finish secured first place in Kelas Triple Crown Seri 1.
Known as one of the strongest long-distance runners, King Of Istana—now known as P. Tupai King—once again displayed his dominance in Kelas A Terbuka – 2,000 meters at Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Triple Crown Serie 2 2025.
Guided by Angel Manarisip from gate four, King Of Istana showcased unwavering stamina from start to finish.
As soon as the gate opened, he took the lead, closely shadowed by Naga Sembilan, who steadily attempted to close in. Pressure also came from Naga Sembilan and Royal Dinasty, who competed for second position, but King Of Istana remained untouchable at the front.
He completed the race convincingly, securing the top podium in the long-distance class.
After being defeated by King Of Istana in Kelas A Terbuka – 2,000 meters at Indonesia’s Horse Racing: Triple Crown Serie 2, Naga Sembilan made a strong comeback at Indonesia’s Horse Racing Cup 2025.
Under Achmad Saefudin from gate 3, he challenged six other top racehorses.
Once the starting gate opened, Triple’s and Rapid Dash surged ahead, while Naga Sembilan stayed calm in third place. Rapid Dash remained unchallenged with a steady rhythm before Triple’s pressed again from second position.
Entering the final 200 meters, the competition intensified as Guti Spirit and Naga Sembilan launched an attack from the outside. With full speed and consistent acceleration, Naga Sembilan pulled ahead untouched until the finish. He secured the victory in Kelas Terbuka – 2,000 meters.
