It turns out their journey to the race arena involves careful planning, strict logistics, and some fascinating behind-the-scenes efforts.
In Indonesia, most racehorses are transported overland. These prized athletes usually travel in large, specially modified trucks that can carry 5 to 6 horses per trip. But loading them isn’t a simple matter.
Ardhi W, a seasoned racehorse trainer, shared with SARGA News.
The dividers help prevent injuries from kicking or stress caused by close contact with unfamiliar horses.
And the costs aren’t trivial—according to Ardhi, a one-way trip from the stable to a race venue typically costs around Rp2.5–3 million, depending on the distance and truck facilities.
Once they arrive, horses aren’t brought straight to the track. Instead, they’re housed in rental stables located near the racing grounds.
