SARGA.CO – Cheers erupted at Sultan Agung Racecourse, Bantul, as King Argentin stormed past the finish line, leaving his rivals behind. The colt, sired by Agrippa (a powerful stallion) and out of Princess Missoni (a legendary mare), not only claimed victory in the 2025 Indonesia Derby but also etched his name in history as the winner of the Indonesia Triple Crown – the most prestigious title in the nation’s horse racing scene.
Yet the spotlight that day wasn’t solely on the chestnut colt’s dazzling speed. It also fell on a bespectacled man in a cap and blue shirt, standing at the edge of the track, his eyes locked on his champion, tears welling up as history unfolded before him.
He was Kusnadi Halim, the owner of King Halim Stable, the man behind King Argentin’s extraordinary journey.
“This is what I’ve been waiting for over two decades,” Kusnadi said softly but with deep relief after the Race XVII Class 3-Year-Old Indonesia Derby – 2000 meters.
It wasn’t the first time Kusnadi had come close to the Triple Crown dream. Back in 2005, he nearly seized the title, only to fall short in the final leg. A decade later, in 2015, the same heartbreak struck again, steps away from glory.
This time, with King Argentin, the long wait finally came to an end. Kusnadi Halim broke down in tears—not just for the victory, but for the years of struggle and near misses that had finally found their reward.
