SARGA.CO – Do you still remember the explosive performance of Bintang Maja, who surged ahead uncontested in the National Championship B Sprint Class (1,200 meters) at Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) Pordasi National Championship Series II 2025, held at Sultan Agung Racecourse, Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region, on Sunday, October 19, 2025? The crowd erupted in thunderous applause as the victory was celebrated from the grandstands.
The six-year-old stallion of the jragem breed, standing 157.5 cm tall, proved his class as a true sprinter. Under the guidance of jockey Ended Rahmad and the steady hand of trainer M. Dani, Bintang Maja dominated the race from start to finish, leading Jalu Stable (DKI Jakarta) to claim the Sarga.Co Trophy with a total prize of Rp50 million.
Bintang Maja’s ability to stand atop the podium has long been proven. One particularly memorable moment was when the horse—sired by Tuscaloosa out of the mare Android—came close to winning one of the most prestigious titles in Indonesian horse racing: the Triple Crown Indonesia. That moment occurred during the 2023 racing season.
Bintang Maja won two of the three required series, including the Derby class, needed to secure the Indonesian Triple Crown.
However, those victories came in the final two legs of the 2023 Triple Crown series.
Bintang Maja failed to win the first series, dashing the hopes of many racing fans who were eager to witness the birth of a new Indonesian Triple Crown champion.
Bintang Maja’s popularity as a champion racehorse has long been acknowledged. He is even recognized as one of three outstanding horses from the Land of Minahasa, North Sulawesi.
As quoted from a Facebook post by Pacuan Kuda Tompaso Sulawesi Utara, amid the dominance of regions that traditionally rule the racetrack, Bintang Maja, King of Istana, and Triple S stand as symbols of North Sulawesi’s resurgence as a new breeding powerhouse in Indonesia’s horse racing industry.
His achievements have been proven across numerous races. Bintang Maja won first place in the Open Sprint Class (1,300 meters) at the Central Java Derby 2025, earned a gold medal at the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) in Class B, and captured the Indonesia Derby title in 2023.
Bintang Maja is living proof that horses from North Sulawesi are not only strong in long-distance races but can also be the fastest on short tracks.
Bintang Maja’s excellence as a champion racehorse is clearly inherited from his distinguished lineage. He comes from the line of Tuscaloosa, a Thoroughbred stallion known for producing multiple champions.
Tuscaloosa is also the sire of Djohar Manik, the Indonesian Triple Crown winner of 2014, and Triple’S, the winner of the 2025 King Hamengku Buwono X Cup.
Looking further into his pedigree, Tuscaloosa was sired by an Australian horse named Haayil and out of Entrechat Douze, a New Zealand mare descended from the American stallion Nassipour and a New Zealand mare named Dancing.
Bintang Maja’s great-grandsire was the French horse Blushing Groom, who was bred to the Irish mare Alama. According to Wikipedia, Blushing Groom was a leading sire in Great Britain and Ireland in 1989.
Meanwhile, Alama was the offspring of Aureole, a renowned racehorse once owned by Queen Elizabeth II.
