SARGA.CO – One of the biggest highlights for Indonesia’s horse-racing fans this year was witnessing the rise of a new Triple Crown Winner. At Sultan Agung Racecourse in Yogyakarta, a title that had remained untouched since 2014 was finally broken.
The achievement belongs to King Argentin, a black stallion who became only the third horse in Indonesia’s racing history to clinch the Triple Crown, previously achieved in 2004 and 2014.
Ridden by jockey Jemmy Runtu, the horse from King Halim Stable swept all three titles in the Indonesia Derby series under the Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) 2025 calendar.
The first victory came in the IHR: Triple Crown Series 1 over 1,200 meters. In a dramatic moment, King Argentin slipped at the start but recovered quickly and took the lead in the final 200 meters.
His maturity showed even more in IHR: Triple Crown Series 2, a 1,600-meter race. With precise tempo control, he overtook his rivals at the final bend.
The peak of his performance came at IHR: Indonesia Derby 2025 on July 27, 2025, over a 2,000-meter distance. Despite falling back to fifth place early in the race, King Argentin delivered a breathtaking comeback.
King Argentin’s power and speed stem from an elite lineage filled with world-class champions.
Born on August 25, 2021, in Pasuruan, East Java, King Argentin is a KP6 stallion. His distinctive black Jragem coat makes him stand out every time he enters the track.
He inherits a prestigious pedigree. His dam, Princess Missoni, passes down bloodlines from top-tier racehorses—even tracing back to Secretariat, the American racing legend and winner of the American Triple Crown in 1973. Secretariat won 16 of his 21 starts, earned over US$1.3 million, and still holds an unbeaten record times across all three Triple Crown races.
Even King Argentin is related to Secretariat, the American horse racing legend and winner of the American Triple Crown in 1973. Secretariat won 16 of his 21 races.
He earned over US$1.3 million in prize money and set unbroken records for the three Triple Crown races.
From his sire line, King Argentin descends from Lord At War, an Argentine-born horse from 1980, and Long War from the United States (born 1994). His sire is Agrippa, an Indonesian stallion born in 2007.
On the dam side, his bloodline includes Princeless Gem (1963) and Lady Winborne (1976) from the United States. Indonesian blood enters through his grandmother, Mahkota Putri Aria (born 2006).
The pairing of Mahkota Putri Aria and Long War from the U.S. produced King Argentin’s mother, Princess Missoni, in 2015.
King Argentin also carries the strong lineage of TM Opera O, one of Japan’s most iconic racehorses. His pedigree includes influential names like Blushing Groom and Nasrullah, two giants who left a remarkable impact on the global horse-racing world.
