SARGA.CO – While there is no specific prayer (du’a) in Islam solely for horseback riding, there are several general prayers that can be recited before and after any physical activity—including horse riding—to seek protection, health, and blessings. Additionally, certain supplications are commonly used to ask for ease and success in all endeavors, including sports.
1. General Prayer Before Physical Activity
Transliteration:
Allahumma ‘afini fi badani, Allahumma ‘afini fi sam‘i, Allahumma ‘afini fi bashari, laa ilaha illa anta.
Meaning:
“O Allah, grant health to my body, my hearing, and my sight. There is no deity but You.”
This prayer may be recited three times.
2. General Prayer Before Any Activity
Transliteration:
Bismillahi tawakkaltu ‘alallahi, laa haula wa laa quwwata illa billah.
Meaning:
“In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah. There is no power and no strength except with Allah.”
3. Prayer for Ease and Success in All Matters
Transliteration:
Rabbi ishrah li shadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul ‘uqdatan min lisani, yafqahu qawli.
Meaning:
“My Lord, expand my chest, ease my task for me, and untie the knot from my tongue so they may understand my words.”
4. Prayer for Safety When Traveling (including horseback trips)
Transliteration:
Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun.
Meaning:
“Glory be to the One who has subjected this [ride] to us, though we were not capable of controlling it, and surely to our Lord we shall return.”
Important Reminder
While there is no special prayer exclusively for horseback riding, these general prayers are encouraged before and after any form of physical activity to help ensure safety, health, and blessings during the activity.
Equally important is to observe proper etiquette and care when handling horses, treating them with kindness and respect.
Horseback riding is also a Sunnah (recommended practice) in Islam. So, beyond reciting prayers, one can also intend this activity as a form of worship, following in the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
