These eye covers help horses stay focused forward by limiting side vision. Although they can be used continuously, if the horse’s owner decides to stop using them, this must still be reported to the Steward.
Spurs attached to the jockey’s boots are used to apply pressure or signals to the horse. However, strict rules require the spurs to be blunt and without sharp bars to prevent harm to the horse.
These are permitted as long as they’re not made of rubber or rubber-coated leather, which could complicate control or cause discomfort to the horse.
This tool helps the jockey push the horse’s speed during the race. But before being used, the whip must pass inspection by the Steward to ensure its shape and material are safe.
Used to prevent the horse’s tongue from obstructing its breathing during a high-speed run. While permitted, its use is tightly monitored to ensure it doesn’t injure or sever the horse’s tongue.
Used to protect the horse’s legs from injury, bandages are only allowed if they are neatly sewn. This is to prevent them from unraveling during high-speed racing.
With strict regulations and careful oversight, Indonesian horse racing continues to uphold professionalism and concern for animal welfare. It’s not just a speed competition, but a sport that values ethics and safety standards.
