SARGA.CO – Indonesian equestrian athletes have once again made their mark on the international stage. This time, Nathan Edward Kareem Yacub demonstrated his skill in the individual show jumping event by securing a bronze medal.
Nathan claimed third place at the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2025, which was held in Bangkok on December 22, 2025.
At the championship, Nathan represented Indonesia as part of the national delegation alongside fellow Indonesian rider Muhammad Raya Andika.
The competition featured 12 athletes representing six Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Rahmat Natsir, the equestrian coach who accompanied Nathan at the event, expressed his gratitude that his athlete was able to win a bronze medal despite the relatively short preparation period.
“Alhamdulillah, Nathan was finally able to secure the bronze medal in the Individual Show Jumping class,” said Rahmat.
In terms of preparation, Rahmat explained that Nathan trained with several horses of different temperaments before departing for Thailand. This approach was taken because the championship applied a Borrow Horse system, in which riders compete using horses provided by the organizers.
According to Rahmat, the competition ran smoothly overall, with course designs that were actually quite rider-friendly. However, the limited time for preparation and adaptation between riders and their assigned horses ahead of the event posed a particular challenge for all athletes, including Nathan and Muhammad Raya Andika.
Despite these challenges, Nathan, riding the horse Aph Sparky, managed to finish in third place and rightfully earned the bronze medal in the Individual Show Jumping class. The gold medal was claimed by Philippine representative Isabella Marie Felix, followed by Thailand’s Supinun Jullobol, who took the silver medal.
Rahmat also acknowledged that the Indonesian equestrian team was not yet able to deliver optimal results in the Show Jumping Team event.
“Fortunately, in the Individual event, Nathan had begun to master his horse’s character, which allowed him to secure third place,” Rahmat Natsir concluded.
