SARGA.CO – Three of Indonesia’s top horseback archery (HBA) athletes have officially been selected to represent the country at the prestigious International Horseback Archery Alliance (IHAA) World Championship 2025, which will take place in Tennessee, USA, from September 17–21, 2025.
This confirmation comes after the athletes successfully completed two rigorous national selection rounds held in Denpasar, Bali, and Serang, Banten, where competition was intense and highly competitive.
Azral Mardin, an athlete from West Sumatra, earned a direct ticket to Tennessee after emerging as the overall champion at the PP Pordasi Chairman’s Cup Horseback Archery Championship in Muntig Siokan, Denpasar (May 10–12, 2025). Azral dominated two main classes—Raid 234 and Indonesian Style—securing his place as an official representative of Indonesia.
Joining him are Omar El Farooq Putra Alleut (East Java) and Kaisar Akhtar (West Java), who secured their spots through the “Try Out: Road to Tennessee” selection event on June 3, 2025, at Bandi’s Stable, Serang. Out of the ten top contenders from earlier rounds, only these two athletes demonstrated the most consistent performances and achieved the highest scores.
Both athletes excelled in the Tower 90 and Raid 234 classes, showcasing world-class qualities such as precision, focus, and fearless execution—hallmarks of elite horseback archers.
Deri Asta, Chair of the Horseback Archery & Tent Pegging Commission at PP Pordasi, expressed his deep appreciation for the successful execution of these two key events. According to him, this national selection was not only about finding the best athletes but also a clear demonstration of Indonesia’s serious commitment to building a strong international presence in the sport.
“Our athletes’ participation in the IHAA World Championship 2025 is the result of collective hard work—organizers, coaches, and the athletes themselves. It proves Indonesia has the spirit, technique, and character to compete on the world stage,” said Deri Asta.
IHAA is one of the world’s most respected horseback archery organizations. At the upcoming IHAA World Championship 2025, the three Indonesian athletes will compete in the Tower 110, Raid 235, and Hunt Track disciplines—both in individual and team categories—against competitors from around the globe.
This successful national selection process represents a major milestone for the Horseback Archery & Tent Pegging Commission of PP Pordasi, led by Deri Asta, and reflects the federation’s broader international ambitions under the leadership of Aryo PS Djojohadikusumo, who is spearheading an expansive drive to elevate Indonesian equestrian athletes to global excellence.
Market value expected to reach US$1.73 billion by 2035
