SARGA.CO – Chairman of the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (PP PORDASI), Aryo P.S. Djojohadikusumo, officially opened the 59th National Horse Racing Championship PORDASI Series I – Indonesia Derby 2025 at Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Aryo opened his speech with a lighthearted rhyme that drew applause.
To the participants, horse owners, stables, and spectators, Aryo shared a message he received directly from President Prabowo Subianto, after being entrusted to lead PP PORDASI:
“I’ve said this many times: safety must come first,” Aryo emphasized.
According to him, no matter how grand the event or how large the audience, it will not be a beautiful day if an accident occurs on the racetrack.
“The President, as a true horseman and avid equestrian, always stresses the safety of both horse and jockey above all,” Aryo continued.
With this in mind, the PP PORDASI Chair expressed hope that the race stewards would carry out their duties professionally, ensuring both in-stadium and live streaming audiences could enjoy the event comfortably.
Meanwhile, Ir. H. M. Munawir, Head of the Organizing Committee for the 59th PORDASI National Horse Racing Championship Series I, reported that the Indonesia Derby 2025 is a major part of this year’s Triple Crown series.
“The Indonesia Derby serves as a prestigious stage for the best 3-year-old horses while also being a point-gathering opportunity leading to Series II, which will determine the overall winner of the President of Indonesia’s Cup,” said Munawir.
In his report, Munawir stated that this year’s championship features 18 classes—8 for the national championship and 10 non-championship classes. A total of 172 horses from 12 PORDASI contingents are competing.
