SARGA.CO – Chairman of the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Federation (PP PORDASI), Aryo P.S. Djojohadikusumo, reaffirmed his commitment to elevate Indonesian horse racing by announcing plans to host three Royal Cup events under the Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) series in 2026.
Aryo made the statement while officially opening the IHR Hamengku Buwono X Royal Cup 2025, held at Bantul Racecourse, Yogyakarta, on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
said Aryo emphatically.
He explained that nearly all major horse racing events around the world feature a Royal Cup as one of their premier categories. In Japan, there is the Emperor’s Cup, the nation’s main horse racing championship.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom hosts the legendary Royal Ascot, and the Dubai World Cup is famously opened by the Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum.
said Aryo, who noted his royal lineage as a descendant of Sultan Hamengku Buwono II.
According to Aryo, the three Royal Cups planned for 2026 will include: The Paku Alam Cup, scheduled for July 2026, The Mangkunegaran Cup, and The Hamengku Buwono Royal Cup later in the same year.
“Today, I make this promise to Kanjeng Gusti — that next year’s Hamengku Buwono Royal Cup 2026 will be the grandest horse racing event in the Republic of Indonesia,” Aryo declared.
Beyond honoring royal heritage, Aryo emphasized that horse racing in Indonesia embodies the nation’s cultural prestige and the grandeur of its royal traditions.
He also reaffirmed that the safety of jockeys, horses, and spectators will always remain the top priority in every event organized by PORDASI.
Meanwhile, Kanjeng Pangeran Putri Haryo (KPH) Purbodiningrat, representing the Royal Family of the Yogyakarta Palace, expressed appreciation to PP PORDASI and SARGA.CO for organizing the IHR Hamengku Buwono X Royal Cup 2025.
“This event is highly prestigious and serves as a vital form of cultural preservation, promoting sportsmanship and unity — both integral parts of our national identity,” said KPH Purbodiningrat.
He also praised this year’s championship for being elegant, representative, and a source of national pride in the international racing arena.
“May this event continue to run smoothly and successfully, bringing benefits and inspiration for younger generations to love and preserve the cultural and sporting traditions that define our nation,” KPH Purbodiningrat concluded.
