SARGA.CO – Kusnadi Halim will never forget the moment his horse, King Argentine, clinched victory at the Indonesia Horse Racing (IHR) – Indonesia Derby 2025, held at the Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track in Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
For 20 long years, the owner of King Halim Stable has waited patiently to claim the Triple Crown — the most coveted title in Indonesia’s horse racing scene.
said Kusnadi Halim, after King Argentine’s victory in Race XVII – Class 3-Year-Old Derby (2,000 meters).
Kusnadi Halim first came close to winning the Triple Crown in 2005.
“In 2005, I was about to win the Triple Crown, but I failed,” he recalled.
A decade later, in 2015, the dream slipped away once again, right before his eyes. But in 2025, the wait was over.
he said, proudly pointing out that both King Argentine and Princess Gavi — stablemates — reached the podium in the final race.
Farooq Ali Khan, head trainer of King Halim Stable, revealed that at the beginning of the season, two horses were in contention to be the stable’s Triple Crown hopefuls: Princess Gavi and King Argentine.
Initially, Princess Gavi was considered the lead contender, with more exposure and stronger early-season performances.
Farooq said.
That faith was solidified when King Argentine won both the first and second legs of the Triple Crown series. From then on, the path became clear.
“After winning Series I and Series II, I was convinced,” he added.
According to Farooq, King Argentine possesses the most crucial trait of a champion:
“He has a big heart. He gives us everything we ask of him.”
Still, Farooq noted that Princess Gavi is equally talented and continues to impress.
When asked about the strategy that led to victory in the Indonesia Derby 2025, Farooq shared that he didn’t burden his jockeys with too many instructions.
“I only asked them to get a good leap out of the gate,” Farooq said.
Once the start was executed cleanly, the jockeys were told to trust the instincts of their mounts.
“Let the horse decide. They know what to do.”
And King Argentine did exactly that—delivering the long-awaited Triple Crown victory to a stable that had been chasing the dream for two decades.
Market value expected to reach US$1.73 billion by 2035
