For Aryo, regional events are far more than annual traditions; they are the essential foundation for Indonesia’s ambition to reach the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

“To reach the Olympic level, we must build a strong and high-quality base of athletes,” Aryo said in an official statement on Wednesday, June 25.

He emphasized that local competitions are the lifeblood of athlete development, where talent is discovered, tested, and nurtured for the challenges ahead.

2025 marks a turning point for equestrian sports in Indonesia, with a surge of meaningful competitions that demonstrate the growing momentum:

• The Horseback Archery President’s Cup, held on Bali’s Sanur Beach last May, drew participants from across Indonesia and even from abroad.
• The Equestrian and Archery Competition at the Dies Natalis of the Faculty of Animal Science, Hasanuddin University (Makassar), saw 680 participants, a staggering figure for a campus-level event.
• The Bupati Cup I in Jeneponto, South Sulawesi, featured 100 racehorses from two provinces.
• And most notably, the Aragon Kavaleri (Arkav) Cup 2025 in West Bandung, part of the Indonesian Army Cavalry anniversary, brought together 32 stables from across the nation.

These events underscore a powerful shift: equestrian sports are no longer elite-exclusive. They are becoming inclusive, community-driven, and full of promise.

Aryo praised the active involvement of local governments, educational institutions, and military organizations in hosting and supporting these events.

According to him, this multi-sector synergy is the key to building a sustainable national equestrian ecosystem.

“Witnessing the overwhelming enthusiasm from competitions across the regions fills PP Pordasi with pride,” Aryo said.
“This is living proof that our equestrian potential is vast and evenly spread—from Sabang to Merauke.”

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are no longer just a distant dream. It is a strategic goal already being paved through local competitions, coach training, the application of sports science, and the early identification of talented riders and horses.
