The Australian-bred star reaffirmed his status as one of the world’s elite milers after securing a back-to-back victory in the Group 1 Hong Kong International Mile (1,600 meters) on Sunday, December 14, 2025. It was a prestigious achievement that firmly places his name among the finest horses ever to compete on Asia’s racing stage.
Trained by Ricky Yiu and ridden by top jockey Zac Purton, the now seven-year-old Voyage Bubble displayed remarkable determination. In a tightly contested duel to the final meters, he withstood a strong challenge from Japanese contender Soul Rush—the same rival who also finished second in last year’s edition. This time, however, Voyage Bubble prevailed by half a length, showcasing a fighting spirit that rekindled memories of his finest performances.
The victory further underlined the horse’s consistency. Voyage Bubble has now recorded 12 wins and 11 podium finishes from 27 starts, a record that reflects exceptional competitiveness and physical resilience at the elite level.
Interestingly, Voyage Bubble’s success story began with a bold decision at the sales ring. The Deep Field–sired colt was purchased directly by his trainer, Ricky Yiu, for AUD 380,000—approximately Rp3.9 billion—making him the most expensive horse at the 2020 Inglis Classic Sale. That investment has since proven to be exceptionally astute.
Voyage Bubble was bred by Torryburn Stud, one of Australia’s leading breeding operations known for producing high-quality racehorses. Among their graduates, Voyage Bubble is regarded as the standout. He is a half-brother to Group 3 winner Diddums—who in turn sired stakes winner Stardom—as well as Brettan, a horse that also competed at stakes level. All are out of the prolific broodmare Raheights, who continues to produce top-class progeny.
The genetic strength behind Voyage Bubble further enriches his story. His sire, Deep Field, has retired from racing and now holds the title of Hong Kong Champion Sire. In recent years, Deep Field’s offspring have dominated the region’s tracks, underscoring the stallion’s significant influence on the Asian racing landscape.
