SARGA.CO – In Indonesia’s tough and highly competitive horse-racing world, the name Dedi Suswanto is widely recognized as a “steady-handed” jockey, known for his smooth and composed touch on the track. Nearly three decades in the racing arena, Dedi has proven that consistency, discipline, and belief in one’s dreams can sustain a career at the highest level.
Unlike many jockeys who come from horse-racing families, Dedi began his career with no background in the equestrian world. His early steps were even met with resistance from his parents. Yet his determination never wavered. He continued to pursue his dream and eventually made his official racing debut in 1997.
That long journey found clarity in 2000, when Dedi officially obtained his national jockey license. This moment marked a major turning point, solidifying his position as a professional jockey. From then on, his name slowly but surely began to gain recognition on the national racing circuit.
Born in Pasuruan on June 8, 1982, Dedi is known for his ability to read races with precision. He rarely rushes, choosing the right tempo and maintaining his horse’s balance until the decisive moment. This riding style is what earned him the nickname “the steady-handed jockey.”
The pinnacle of Dedi’s career came at the 2013 Indonesia Derby, when he guided Red Silenos to a prestigious victory. The title placed his name alongside Indonesia’s top jockeys and cemented his reputation as someone who can perform at his best on the sport’s biggest stage.
That victory was not merely a personal achievement, but also a symbol of a long journey—from a once-doubted beginner to a national champion.
Today, together with Aragonn Stable, Dedi Suswanto remains active and consistently competitive at the national level. Even as a new generation of jockeys continues to emerge, his experience remains a valuable asset that keeps him relevant and highly respected.
Nearly 30 years on the track, Dedi Suswanto has done more than just endure—he continues to prove that perseverance and dedication are the keys to longevity in Indonesia’s horse-racing world.
Dedi has also been a regular presence on the podium throughout the 2025 Indonesia Horse Racing season, including a notable first-place victory at the IHR–Merdeka Cup 2025 in the E-Class (1,200 meters) aboard Putra Raja of Aragon Stable.
