SARGA.CO – As winter temperatures start to settle over Europe, Nur Muhammad Ghifari, Manager of Indonesia’s Equestrian Team for the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, spent several crucial days in Germany. Not for a holiday, but to ensure every detail of Indonesia’s preparations is truly solid ahead of the competition on December 9–20.
Ghifari visited three elite training centers that have long served as temporary bases for Indonesia’s national athletes: Klosterhof Altenmedingen for Eventing, Schockemöhle Steinfeld for Jumping, and the expansive Hof Kasselmann Hagen complex for Dressage. These facilities are known as some of the best in Germany, home to many world-class horses and riders.
“This visit aims to directly observe the training process and strengthen communication with the athletes and coaches in Europe,” Ghifari said, as quoted from Pordasi.id.
From his observations, Indonesia’s preparations are moving in a highly positive direction. The athletes train under strict routines, strong discipline, and meticulous guidance from the coaching team. One crucial point is the bonding process between riders and their horses — a vital component in equestrian sports.
According to Ghifari, this adaptation is going smoothly. “The chemistry between the athletes and their horses is developing well. This is important so their performance can support each other during competition,” he added.
To evaluate their progress, the Dressage and Jumping athletes are scheduled to compete in a championship in Riesenbeck, Germany, on November 27. This event will serve as a benchmark of their improvement before the SEA Games.
It’s not only the athletes who are closely monitored — the horses are also a top priority. Ghifari emphasized that all horses are in prime condition, healthy, and under strict supervision by caretakers and veterinarians. They are scheduled to depart from Europe for Thailand on December 9, 2025, aligned with each discipline’s competition schedule.
Indonesia enters the equestrian events with high ambitions. Preparations began early when PP PORDASI held a Talent Scouting program as the selection stage from June 22 to July 1, 2025, at Arthayasa Stable, specifically for Dressage and Eventing. Meanwhile, the Jumping discipline underwent selection based on results from national and international competitions, especially FEI CSI 1*-level events.
The selected athletes then underwent a full training camp in Europe, supported by top-tier facilities and international-standard coaching. Now, with the SEA Games Thailand 2025 approaching, the entire team — athletes, coaches, and horses — is in the final phase of preparation.
Ghifari’s visit to Germany not only ensured everything is on track but also served as a motivational boost, reinforcing that Indonesia is ready to perform and give its best.
