SARGA.CO – Just like humans carry ID cards and passports to travel, racehorses also require a special document: a horse passport.
This essential document records a horse’s identity, lineage, and medical history. In the world of professional racing, it’s far from a mere formality—it’s a strict requirement for entry into both national and international competitions.
The main condition for obtaining a horse passport in Indonesia is registration under PP Pordasi (The Indonesian Equestrian Federation).
Currently, there are three types of horse passports valid in Indonesia, each serving a different purpose:
Issued by the Pordasi Secretariat General, the Pordasi Passport requires a form filled with both horse and owner data.
Horse data includes the horse’s name, physical markings, and pedigree, while owner data includes name, date of birth, and contact information.
Processing takes approximately 7 days. This passport is mandatory for competing in official Pordasi championships, such as the National Championship or multi-event games like PON and Porprov.
The application process is similar to that of the Pordasi Passport, but with one extra requirement: the horse must be microchipped with an ID tag implanted by a veterinarian familiar with equine care.
The collected data is submitted to the FEI and stored in its global database.
This passport is required to enter any FEI-sanctioned events.
Ownership changes for both Pordasi and FEI passports must be submitted to Pordasi’s Secretariat for official updates.
Beyond access to competitions, horses with Pordasi or FEI passports tend to have higher market value due to verified records.
Applicants can choose between 2- or 4-year validity periods for both types.
Among the three, the BRK Certificate (Horse Registration Bureau) is the most thorough and verification-heavy.
Applications begin at the provincial Pordasi level, where the horse’s pedigree and owner’s data are collected.
Initial verification is conducted locally before being escalated to BRK’s central office, where the pedigree is cross-referenced manually against their master record.
Processing may take up to 30 days.
BRK offers three categories of certification:
The BRK Central Office also handles ownership changes and encourages reporting deceased horses to prevent misuse of certification.
With lifetime validity, a BRK Certificate is often a prerequisite for competing in national-level races. It also significantly boosts a horse’s sale value, especially when the pedigree is officially verified and documented.
Smart Falcon is a name held in high regard on the track—especially in the world of dirt racing.
