SARGA.CO – One of the Indonesian Horse Racing (IHR) series held in Sumatra marked a major success. The IHR Cup II 2025, staged at the Kubu Gadang Racecourse in Payakumbuh, West Sumatra, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, set a new record for attendance in the entire IHR 2025 series.
Kicking off with the Sarga Festival on September 27, the IHR Cup II 2025 in Payakumbuh drew a total of 50,000 visitors from various backgrounds, including attendees from West Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi.
Previously, the highest recorded attendance for an IHR event was 36,000 people during the IHR Indonesia Derby 2025 and Sarga Festival in Yogyakarta, held on July 26–27, 2025.
said SARGA.CO Co-Founder & CEO, Aseanto Oudang.
This new attendance record reflects the high enthusiasm of the people of Payakumbuh, West Sumatra, and surrounding regions for horse racing as a form of sportainment.
According to Aseanto, choosing West Sumatra as the host of the IHR Cup II 2025 was part of SARGA.CO’s commitment to developing horse racing across Indonesia. He acknowledged that Indonesia has many regions with unique, deep-rooted equestrian traditions, with West Sumatra being one of them.
“As the first and only horse-racing promoter in Indonesia, SARGA.CO wants to grow this potential into a source of national pride—not only by producing outstanding achievements but also by creating a multiplier effect for related sectors such as SMEs, tourism, and the creative economy,” Aseanto emphasized.
Payakumbuh Mayor Dr. Zulmaeta also expressed his joy at hosting the IHR Cup II 2025.
According to him, horse racing in Payakumbuh has long served as both a traditional sport and a people’s festival to encourage local horse breeders.
said Zulmaeta.
He admitted that presenting the event in a modern format had proven effective in attracting large crowds who attended and watched in an orderly manner.
“We hope to continue working with SARGA.CO and learn more about organizing modern horse-racing events while still preserving our local wisdom,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (PP PORDASI), Aryo P.S. Djojohadikusumo, praised the successful organization of the IHR Cup II 2025 in West Sumatra and extended his gratitude to all supporting parties.
“We thank the Payakumbuh City Government for their solid support in hosting this championship,” he said.
Aryo further noted that with commercial partners like SARGA.CO, PP PORDASI hopes to expand the number of national-scale horse-racing events across Indonesia.
The IHR Cup II 2025 is the seventh event in the 2025 Indonesia's Horse Racing (IHR) calendar, "The Race of Rising Stars," organized by SARGA.CO, in collaboration with PP PORDASI (Indonesian Association of Horse Racing Associations), to provide a new horse racing experience for the Indonesian public.
The IHR Cup II 2025 is supported by Arsari Tambang, Le Minerale, Pertamina, Semen Indonesia Group (SIG) and Semen Padang, RM Payakumbuh, and Vitalong C.
The next IHR will be held in Yogyakarta on October 19, 2025. This is the second National Horse Racing Championship (Kejurnas) that will determine which province will win the President's Cup.
