SARGA.CO — As the race toward the 2025 Indonesia Derby title intensifies, one name is emerging as a serious contender: Wonder Land. This elegant and composed filly from Rama Sinta Stable is proving to be more than just a pretty face — she’s a formidable force on the track. And for King Argentine, the Triple Crown frontrunner, she poses a real and growing threat.
From Padang to Java: The Queen’s Journey
Born of Dubai’s Choice and Wonder Woman, Wonder Land sports a distinct jragem (greyish-brown) coat and a temperament known for being calm and obedient — a crucial asset in racing, particularly when approaching the starting gate.
According to Dedi Novaldi, Wonder Land’s owner, the horse’s journey began in West Sumatra.
“I first saw Wonder Land in Padang. As a rookie, she placed second twice. My brother suggested we bring her to Java. He said the competition there is tougher — and we wouldn’t know her true potential unless we tried,” he recalled.
That gamble paid off. Upon her debut in Java, Wonder Land clinched first place in the 2-Year-Old A/B class of the Indonesia Derby, followed by back-to-back runner-up finishes in the first and second legs of the Indonesian Triple Crown.
One of the most thrilling moments came during the second leg of the Triple Crown, when Wonder Land nearly upset the favorite.
“She led from the start — right up until the final stretch,” Dedi said. “But King Argentine closed in with a powerful finish and overtook her just before the line.”
Despite falling short of victory, Wonder Land’s performance sent ripples through the racing community. Many now see her as the top challenger heading into the final of the 2025 Indonesia Derby.
All Eyes on the Indonesia Derby Final
Though no longer in the running for the Triple Crown, Wonder Land has shifted her focus to the 3-Year-Old, 2,000-meter Indonesia Derby final, set to take place at Sultan Agung Racetrack (SSA), Bantul, on July 27, 2025.
“The farthest she’s run is 1,600 meters, but we’re confident she can handle 2,000,” said Dedi with determination.
Victory Is Not Just About Trophies
For Dedi and the Rama Sinta team, Wonder Land’s journey has already been a source of pride.
“Whatever happens in the final, we’re proud. Having a horse with this kind of potential is a victory in itself.”
Wonder Land has already proven that even an underdog from the provinces can challenge the dominance of racing’s elite. And who knows — the queen from Sumatra might just steal the crown at the 2025 Indonesia Derby.
They are the queens who rule the battlefield.
