SARGA.CO – What’s usually seen in MotoGP or Formula 1 may now shape the outcome of Indonesia’s biggest horse race. Team orders—a strategy where one racer supports another—will reportedly be in play at the 3-Year-Old Derby (2,000 meters) during the IHR-Indonesia Derby 2025, held at Sultan Agung Racecourse, Bantul, this Sunday, July 27.
All eyes are on King Argentine, the West Java champion who has already clinched the Triple Crown Series 1 and 2. A win this Sunday would crown him as the third-ever winner of the Indonesian Triple Crown.
To secure his historic triumph, Princess Gavi—his stablemate from King Halim Stable—is expected to play a crucial supporting role.
“Team orders will likely come into play. Princess Gavi will act as a shield for King Argentine, protecting him from rivals and clearing the path to victory,” said Ardhi Wijaya, Trainer at BHM Stable and Adem Ayem Stable
Jakarta, not to be outdone, has four powerful entries—Romeo Berjaya, Spektra Davinci, Merlin Gray, and Wonderland—and is rumored to have its team strategy in place.
“Jakarta's horses are also expected to implement team orders. It’s going to be a fierce battle,” said Ardhi Wijaya
Still, Ardhi remains confident in King Argentine’s dominance.
“Even without support, King Argentine is in a different league. Catching him will be tough.”
The 3-Year-Old Derby – 2,000 meters is the most prestigious class in the 2025 IHR-Indonesia Derby, with 12 top horses ready to steal the show. The draw places King Argentine in gate 9, alongside Princess Gavi in gate 8, who will be his main escort.
