SARGA.CO – The DKI Jakarta contingent pulled off a stunning victory in the 2025 National Horse Racing Championship (Kejurnas) Series II (Final), held at the Sultan Agung Racecourse, Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Coming into the final round ranked third in the overall standings with 33 points, the Jakarta team delivered an exceptional performance to overtake both West Java, the Series I leader with 50 points, and Central Java, which stood in second place with 41 points.
“We are very proud — may this be an inspiration for all athletes in upcoming championships,” said Charles Honoris, Chairman of Pordasi Jakarta, who was present to witness the races, as quoted from Pordasi.id.
In Series II, Jakarta’s contingent clinched a dramatic overall victory, scoring 52.5 points for a total of 85.5 points, narrowly edging out West Java, which finished just 0.25 points behind with 85.25 points, and Central Java in third with 64 points. East Java and North Sulawesi rounded out the top five, with 46 and 24.75 points, respectively.
Thanks to this result, Jakarta claimed the President’s Rotating Trophy, previously held by West Java. The championship featured 169 horses from 12 regional contingents, competing in 10 official national classes and 8 non-national races.
“Jakarta’s preparation for this Kejurnas was as usual — the key was creating a strong, cohesive team atmosphere,”
said Bagus Haryanto, Chairman of the Racing Commission, Pordasi Jakarta.
“That unity became our greatest strength in winning the national title.”
Bagus added that their next target is to deliver another strong showing at the HB Cup X Royal Horse Racing Championship, scheduled for November 9, 2025.
Princess Gavi and Naga Sembilan Reign in the Premier Divisions
Two of the most prestigious races of the event saw fierce competition. In the Class A Sprint 1,300M, Princess Gavi — ridden by Hanny Suoth (West Java) — staged a thrilling comeback, overtaking Dominator in the final stretch to win by just a few centimeters.
In the Class A Star of Stars 2,200M, Naga Sembilan, ridden by Achmad Saefudin (DKI Jakarta), faced off in a tight duel with Triple SS (Central Java). In a neck-and-neck finish, Naga Sembilan prevailed by a slim margin, securing a vital victory that contributed to Jakarta’s overall championship win.
Jakarta’s triumph in the 2025 Kejurnas not only showcased its racing prowess but also underlined the competitive depth and teamwork that now define Indonesia’s modern horse racing scene — a sport where every stride, split-second decision, and strategy counts.
