SARGA.CO – After turning heads in the fierce 2025 Triple Crown, the fiery racehorse Romantic Spartan is preparing for one of Indonesia’s most legendary venues: Kubu Gadang Racecourse, Payakumbuh, for the IHR Cup II 2025 on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Bred from Fort De Cock x Nan Diati, Romantic Spartan will run in the prestigious 4-Year-Old A/B Class over 1,600 meters, a distance that demands both speed and tactical brilliance.
“Yes, we’re running in Payakumbuh,” said jockey Rudy Rahmat in an interview with SARGA.CO.
Romantic Spartan is no ordinary contender. Her name began to resonate nationwide after she fiercely challenged King Argentin and Princess Gavi—the prized horses of King Halim Stable—in a decisive 2025 Triple Crown showdown.
Though she finished third, her relentless, never-say-die style earned acclaim from racing analysts, many calling her one of this season’s standout stars.
Romantic Spartan hails from the San Marino Stable in West Sumatra. Under the expert guidance of trainer Mr. Amris, this mare began to show her true form after winning the 2024 Sawahlunto Derby. This victory not only propelled her onto the national stage but also made her a symbol of the rise of West Sumatran racehorses.
The Kubu Gadang Arena is more than just a racetrack. With a long history dating back to 1906 and a track character that demands precision in the corners and aggression on the final straight, it is a true test for both horse and jockey.
The 900-meter course, 12 meters wide, features sharp bends that require calculated maneuvers. Yet Romantic Spartan’s signature late-charging style makes her a strong candidate to spring another surprise.
Dubbed “this season’s most promising mare,” Romantic Spartan enters not as a mere participant but as a serious contender—here to captivate the crowd and chase victory, not just show up.
