SARGA.CO – The spotlight of the Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) Cup II 2025 will heat up this weekend at the Kubu Gadang Racecourse in Payakumbuh. One of the most anticipated clashes comes in the 4-Year-Old A/B Class, 1,600-meter race, promising a classic duel between two track stars: Romantic Spartan from Padang Panjang versus Jundu Batu Balang, the hometown pride of Payakumbuh.
All eyes will be on Romantic Spartan, the mare owned by San Marino Stable, breaking from Gate 1. Known for her blistering early speed and consistent form, Romantic is the horse to beat.
But this time, the race may not be as easy as usual.
From Gate 5 emerges the unflinching challenger Jundu Batu Balang, a Payakumbuh standout with a reputation as a stubborn fighter on the track.
Not only is Jundu quick, but he’s also clever at spotting gaps to overtake rivals. He first turned heads when winning the 3-Year-Old C/D Class, 1,400 meters, at the 2025 Payakumbuh Mayor’s Cup, and his performances have only improved since.
This showdown will be about more than pure speed—it’s a battle of tactics. Romantic Spartan is expected to surge from the start, aiming to dominate the race early. But Jundu is famous for conserving stamina and delivering a late explosive sprint, a racing style that can topple even the strongest opponents.
Of course, it’s not just a two-horse affair.
Three other formidable contenders are ready to spring surprises: Dara Tilatang (Gate 4) from Bukittinggi, Yatim Putri (Gate 3) from Payakumbuh, and Axa Tanpa Nama (Gate 2) from Padang Panjang.
These five horses represent the very best of West Sumatra.
And in the 4-Year-Old A/B Class, 1,600 meters is no short dash—it demands endurance, rhythm, and sharp jockey strategy to time every move.
With Payakumbuh long regarded as a breeding ground for tough racehorses, local fans are placing their hopes on Jundu Batu Balang to make history once again.
But Romantic Spartan is no ordinary rival.
