SARGA.CO – Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) – Merdeka Cup 2025 was officially held on Sunday, August 24, 2025. The championship, taking place at the Legok Jawa Horse Racing Arena in Pangandaran, opened with the Three-Year-Old Maiden C/D – 1000 Meter Class, which was followed by two horses.
Originally, the race was scheduled to feature four horses, but it turned into a duel between Rastaban from West Java (Jabar) and Kembang Tanjung from Jakarta.
Two other horses, Bless Wani from Jabar and John Tappor from East Java (Jatim), withdrew from the competition. The IHR Merdeka Cup 2025 finally began with the duel between Rastaban and Kembang Tanjung, competing for the Sarga Trophy with a total prize of Rp20 million.
From the moment the starting gate opened, a fierce duel was immediately shown by the two competing horses. Both started the race strongly, leaving no clear leader at the beginning.
Up to the first turn, the two positions were still closely contested, running side by side. The advantage began to appear at the second turn, when Rastaban, on the inside lane, started to lead over Kembang Tanjung.
Rastaban, ridden by jockey Abdul Majid with trainer Dani Saddak, began to show his superiority in the final meters before the finish line.
The 3-year-old colt, standing 145.9 cm tall, sired by Maximilian and Imperial War from Atagon Stable, finally secured victory in the Three-Year-Old Maiden C/D – 1000 Meter Class.
Following in second place was Kembang Tanjung from Graha Alam Stable, ridden by jockey Ended Rahmat with trainer Heri Rukmana. The chestnut filly, standing 154 cm tall, is the offspring of Angelo Eclipse and Shansai Nan Aluih.
