SARGA.CO – Under gloomy skies and a steady downpour at the Kubu Gadang Horse Racing Arena, a young contender from Pariaman stole the spotlight. Putra Sikumbang, a chestnut colt making his racing debut, sealed a sweet victory in Race VI, 2-Year-Old Debut Class C/D – 600 meters, at the Indonesia Horse Racing (IHR) Cup II 2025 on Sunday, September 28.
The son of the legendary pair Dubai’s Choice x Liontin delivered a stunning performance, even without taking the early lead. Breaking from Gate 5, Putra Sikumbang showed remarkable composure and maturity, biding his time as Miracle Samudra surged ahead with a perfect start.
The turning point came halfway through the race. In the midst of heavy rain and a slick track, Putra Sikumbang bolted like lightning, leaving his rivals behind and widening his lead to three lengths.
With this victory, Putra Sikumbang claimed the prestigious Payakumbuah Cup along with the top prize of IDR 20 million. The win also established him as a rising star to watch on Indonesia’s national horse racing stage.
