SARGA.CO — Amid the spotlight on big names like King Argentine and Wonder Land, one unexpected contender galloped into glory: Princess Gavi. The elegant, greyish-brown filly, standing 155.5 cm tall, delivered a sensational performance during the 3-Year-Old Class eliminations of the IHR Indonesia Derby 2025 — and left everyone talking.
Racing at Sultan Agung Racetrack (SSA) in Bantul on Sunday, July 13, Princess Gavi, daughter of Agrippa and Queen Jasmine, stole the show with not only a heat victory, but the fastest overall time across all groups, beating even the mighty King Argentine.
With a time of 2 minutes 19.08 seconds, Princess Gavi didn’t just win her heat — she outpaced every horse across all groups, including King Argentine.
From King Halim Stable, But Not the King's Shadow
Interestingly, both Princess Gavi and King Argentine hail from King Halim Stable. But on that day, it was the young filly who blazed faster than the stable’s top male contender.
King Argentine, who raced in Heat 2, clocked in at 2:20.43, while Gavi led Heat 1 by over a full second. This wasn’t just about time — it was a clear statement that the princess has what it takes to challenge for the Derby throne.
A Champion’s Bloodline, Now Becoming Reality
With the legacy of Agrippa, a legendary stallion famed for his solid speed, and Queen Jasmine, a graceful mare known for her fighting spirit, Princess Gavi undeniably comes from a prestigious lineage.
But a strong pedigree doesn’t always guarantee success on the track.
What sets Gavi apart is her racing temperament. She’s not simply following the pace — she takes charge from the start. At SSA, she dominated her heat with a steady yet biting rhythm right from the first 600 meters.
12 Finalists, One Crown, Many Stories
Joining Princess Gavi in the final on July 27 are 11 other contenders. Among them:
King Argentine – the Triple Crown favorite
Romantic Spartan – winner of the Sawahlunto Derby
Wonder Land, Sidney Allstar, Kashmir Paraja, and Padagi NSL – fast, unpredictable challengers
But now, Princess Gavi is no longer just a “fast filly”—she’s a serious contender, and perhaps the most promising hope to disrupt the male-dominated landscape of this year’s final.
The Princess of Napas, On Her Way to the Derby Throne
If Princess Gavi can maintain her form in the final, we might witness history unfold at SSA Bantul — not just a princess admired for her elegance, but one remembered for her speed and tenacity.
She has delivered her message:
She is not here as a footnote.
She is the lead character, ready to write how this story ends.
